View Full Version : Thank You Alissa!
Right now, I am just SO HAPPY. I am SOOOO ecstatic. My mom is the one who discovered raw in the first place, SHE was the one who was so happy about it, buying all these books and recipe ingredients, finding any information she could... we did it for a few months together and she stopped while I continued. It made me really sad, she looked soooo good while raw and then just went back to coffee and pasta and all variety of nastiness(still vegetarian, we've been vegetarian for my entire life and then some, but still), and I had to watch. She hasn't even been 50% since early December. But Alissa's book and DVD came in the mail the other day! Ordered them with ALL of my birthday money. And I think it's the best present I got, because i've been sitting here on the computer minding my own business, upstairs making things, etc... not saying anything... and she picked up and has just finished reading the entire book, totally of her own volition. And proudly proclaimed to me SHE IS GOING RAW AGAIN! She is determined this time she says, she knows it's the right thing to do, the ONLY thing to do, no more flipflopping, or COFFEE! It's incredible. She who ate pizza tonight is sitting there rattling off recipes she thinks sound good(while cooked she hated me talking about recipes all the time)! She says that Living on Live Food is THE best raw book she's read. Out of 7. Sorry if i'm rambling, but it's just really amazing. I'm so happy. I honestly doubted her ever going back, I REALLY REALLY wanted her to and it made me so depressed that she wasn't, but she IS! She has proved me wrong! And it wouldn't have happened without Alissa, this forum, everybody. It's wonderful. I can't wait to make things together with her. (Also, I took pictures but they got deleted somehow... I made a little salad-type thing with saladacco'd beet noodles, two apples diced, alfafa sprouts and these giant long mung-bean-looking sprouts... it was really good!)

That's great, Zena!!!
The thing about Alissa is that she makes it so simple..."as long as it's raw." I haven't read any other raw books except the one by Carol Alt. She makes it seem simple too but she eats raw meat, cooked bread, and so on. The rest of the info I've gotten is from the Internet and it usually has something to say about "what" and "how much of what" we should eat.
Alissa also talks about freedom! If you want desert for breakfast, lunch, and supper, go for it -- so long as it's raw. Banana's for days? Go for it!
I'm glad your mother has proven you wrong but what was it about the book that did it? Perhaps your mother could join this forum and share her story. It'd help her stay on track as well.

Zena,
Your message was very inspiring. I just ordered the book and the DVDs this week. I can't wait to get them! My Mom is trying raw too. We live in different cities, but she has been inspired by me. I love it!
Your mom is lucky to have a daughter like you. :)

Wow!
Yes, I wish I had my mom to do this with...instead I have a husband who eats steak every night for dinner... !!!
At least he is pretty supportive... :)
Just imagine if you eat this way the rest of your life!!! You will be one beautiful woman inside and out, and will live to be over 100!!! Wish I could rewind the years and start at your age! :)
Thank you for your kind words everyone! I'm even happier now, she's been watching the DVD for the past two hours and earlier took some other raw books to work with her to read on her break! :D
