Last week I made that Chocolate cream pie everyone raved about. I made it with all cocoa as I do not like carob. My son ate the who pie.

I made it again today with carob and my son (2ys) has been vomiting ever since! :( All he had had before that was his usual fruit!

Does carob go off? I bought it about two months ago and it has been in an air tight container and smells fine.

Any ideas?!

Cheers!

I suspect it could be food combining issue. Children in particular are very sensitive to how foods are combined and in general prefer to eat mono. And, after eating fruit, it is important to wait until body fully digests it. Otherwise, haing heavy foods sitting on top of fruit will cause fruit ferment, which may lead to bloating etc. I hope your son gets better soon!

Sincerely,
Gosia.

I seem to be very sensitive to carob and have given up eating it. Even in small amounts I get very very sick to my stomach. I am guessing I have an intolerance to it, maybe that is the problem your son is having. Has he been able to eat carob before this time? My tummy aches progressively got worse and worse until I just use cocoa now, since I don't use much of it and not very often I don't worry and at least it doesn't make me sick to my tummy! I hope he is feeling all better now!

Hmm that may be it. He had never had it before this. He also only had about 5 spoon fulls and had not eaten for over two hours. He is also not a "sicky" kid as I can count on one hand the number of times he has thrown up!

Thanks everyone! :)
