I am reading Natalia Rose's Raw Food Detox Diet and find a few things hard to figure out. I know there are some supporters here, so I thought I would post my questions to see if anyone had any thoughts -

1) Any dessert ideas following a starch meal?

2) Is raw sweetpotato a starch or vegetable? She consideres raw corn a vegetable, but I wasn't sure about sweet potatoes.

3) To make sure I understand, bananas can mix with fruits and dried fruits, avocadoes can mix with starches and dried fruits, neither can mix with nuts, and they can mix with each other but avocadoes can't mix with fruits and bananas can't mix with starches. Is this right? And neither can mix with nuts?

4) She says her raw ice cream recipe - fruit or fruit with tahini - can be eaten following a nuts/dried fruit meal. This confuses me because 1fruit is not supposed to be eaten with anything.

5) She doesn't advocate soaking/sprouting nuts because, if they don't germinate, you are watering down proteins and making them harder to digest. Any thoughts?

Thanks for taking the time....

I did have her book some time ago, but gave it to a relative who was interested in starting raw. I remember feeling that some of her suggestions were confusing. I did email her a question and at first got an automated response about checking her website FAQs, but then several days later I received an email from Ms. Rose answering my specific question. http://www.therawfooddetoxdiet.com/faq.html

Sorry for the CAPS ! I wanted to denote the answers. I am not yelling LOL ! :p

1) Any dessert ideas following a starch meal? AFTER A STARCH MEAL, GRAIN TYPE DESERT LIKE A COOKIE . NEVER FRUIT FOR DESERT.

2) Is raw sweetpotato a starch or vegetable? She consideres raw corn a vegetable, but I wasn't sure about sweet potatoes. SWEET POTATO ARE A STARCHY VEGETABLE.

YOU GOT THAT. DON'T MIX WITH NUTS.

4) She says her raw ice cream recipe - fruit or fruit with tahini - can be eaten following a nuts/dried fruit meal. This confuses me because 1fruit is not supposed to be eaten with anything.

SHE SAYS THAT THIS IS NOT OPTIMAL BUT IF 80% OF THE TIME YOU FOLLOW THE RULES YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT. OK SOME MAY..THE NUT/FRUIT/SEED DESERTS DO GIVE ME GAS.

5) She doesn't advocate soaking/sprouting nuts because, if they don't germinate, you are watering down proteins and making them harder to digest. Any thoughts?

SHE WRITE A NUT SEED MUST BE WHOLE (NOT CHIPPED DAMAGED) TO GERMINATE. SO IF IT DOES NOT GERMINATE YOU ARE NOT GETTIING THE BENEFITS AND YOU END UP WITH A WET, NUT AS GOOD TASTING NUT. SHE DOES SAY SHE FEELS IT IS EASIER TO DIGEST A NON SPROUTED SEED AS OPPOSED TO A WET DILUTED NOT SPROUTED ONE. I CAN SEE HER POINT THERE !

ALSO SHE SAYS IF YOU ARE A BUSY PERSON LIKE MANY SHE WORKSS WITH THAT IS IS TIME CONSUMING FOR THE BENEFIT YOU MAY GET FROM IT. I FIND UNSPROUTED NUTS ARE FINE FOR ME, SO I TEND TO AGREE HERE. FOR OTHERS THEY MAY HAVE AN EASIER TIME DIGESTING A SPROUTED NUT OR SEED.

DAVID WOLFE ALSO ADVOCATES EATING SOME NON SPROUTED NUTS SEEDS FOR AN ENZYME 9UN AVAILABLE IN THE SPROUTED ONES) FOR ITS INTESTINAL CLEANING PROPERTY.
