They don't lose all of it, but they do lose a good amount of their oils. Also, their mineral spectrum changes through biological transmutation.

I was wondering the same thing! Do you know if grains change at all when sprouted? I did talk to Dr. Ross at The Tree Of Life and she didn't think anything changed. So does this mean the calories change?

They do lose some of their oil, so in result it would be reasonable to think they would contain less fat. What does happen for sure is when you sprout something it becomes living. So it is not just raw, but also living raw food. It becomes a superfood. Sprouts play an important part in my daily lifestyle. I include sprouts in all my patte's and most of my salads, and most of veggie based drinks. If you are not using sprouts I highly recommend it. I saw a big difference in my overall healing when I started sprouts. I LOVE MY SPROUTS, LIKE A GOOD GIRL.

Could you explain more about that? How exactally does the spectrum change?

I suggest you read Kervran's 'Biological Transmutations' (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0846401959/sr=8-1/qid=1149194606/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-9299363-4609468?%5Fencoding=UTF8)

It's not an easy book to read if you're not a biological chemist, but it still has much to offer the layman (i.e. me :D)

Biological transmutation is a concept not widely (or, indeed, fully) understood, and is extremely contentious, even by the usual standards of contentiousness in nutrition. However, just because mankind cannot yet explain something does not mean it is necessarily nonsense, voodoo or witchcraft! If you decide to read up on soil biology etc., a remarkable picture emerges of a world beneath our feet that is infinitely more complex and intriguing than we ever imagined. Plants and microbes synergistically perform myriad chemical changes upon elements within the soil. William Albrecht did some fantastic work on this subject, but with specific regard to transmutation of minerals, I suggest you check out Kervran's stuff first.

Yes, read Biological Transmutations. There is really science behind it.

I think they are a gift. Why more people don't eat them puzzles me.

How do you sprout your buckwheat? I have not been very successful! Also, when you sprout the wheat do you let it grow to a grass and eat/juice that? Or do you sprout it just a bit and eat the whole thing? I have gluten sensitivity so I only juice the wheat grass and ditch the rest (on the lawn!!! :D ) What kinds of beans do you sprout? Lentils sprout easy....sorry I have so many questions on this topic but it is the one area I need to work on! Thanks for the tips!

I work at Hippocrates and eat almost all my meals there, so they grow the sprouts for me. I have grown my own though. Mmmm...I love them, especially the sunflower greens.
