Has anyone ever tried to make toasted corn before. I was thinking I'd just shuck some corn then toss it in olive oil and some seasonings and stick it in the dehydrator.

I wonder if it would turn out like the commercial toasted corn or would it just become like hard popcorn kernels? Any comments?

Hey Shan,
I haven't tried this, but I have tried eating dried corn and it can break your teeth it's so hard. I'm not sure how different it can be from toasted... just remember doing it as a kid. We had chickens and we dried the corn for them.

Let us know if it works.. would be an awesome snack!

Hmm, I've never had toasted corn, I've made corn chips and corn on the cob, but I'm not sure if I know what this is.

if it is the crispy, hard crunchy snack, called corn kernels or some such thing, I think they use hominy corn for that, it's not the kind of corn you buy in the grocery store, it is far more starchy, and very large kernals.

I would think you could make a crispy corn chip/snack/cracker thing with some salt and some wheat berries and corn and some flax and have it taste similar.
