Wow. I have had one hell of a morning. I have been raw for almost a month now. I have been detoxing a great deal. I have been really good with only a few minor slip ups since I started. Then this morning I did something REALLY stupid. I was dragging pretty badly this morning. Before I became raw, my morning ritual was to have a diet coke on the way to work. I thought this might pick me up for work. Boy, was I wrong.

I downed the diet coke pretty quickly on my way to work. When I got here, on the way up the stairs (3 flights) I felt extremely heavy and faint. Regardless, I went into the office and did a few things. I started to feel really queasy and foggy and a little dizzy even. Next thing you know I am in the bathroom lying on the floor with my hands tingling and my feet tingling terribly. It was almost like I was being shocked, my hands and feet were trembling so badly. This has never happened to me before. I started to panic. I kept trying to tell myself that it was some type of detox reaction, and not to worry, but I was scared. I took some deep breaths and calmed myself down. Long story short, I now know it was the diet coke that did it to me. That stuff is pure evil. After I told my boyfriend what happened, he sent this link to me. It is a list of articles written by doctors about the affects of aspartme.

I will shoot myself before I drink another diet coke. I feel like my body is so clean right now from the raw diet, the colon cleanse, etc..... I have to wonder if being clean isn't some sort of curse. Now my body is ultra-sensitive to the poisons out there. It's a scary thought. I have to wonder if I am not making myself too vulnerable.

Yes, couldn't think of any worse of a thing you could of drank. I have learned that lesson. I used to pass out everytime I would drink diet coke (anything with aspartame). It caused me a lot of trouble. Migraine, mitral valve, and more......never touch the stuff again. Never.

Sorry you had to have that happen. Not fun at all.

Your body definitely becomes more sensetive on raw. I can't eat the same foods I used to eat because I can't digest them anymore and they make me feel awful!

I know what you mean! I've never been a fan of coke, but I had a recent allergic reaction to cooked foods last week-end. My mom came to visit me in New York and she insisted I bring her to the Magnolia bakery. I decided that it couldn't hurt to try one of the cupcakes - boy was I wrong! Not only did it taste bad after the first bite, but that night I had at least 5 new big pimples.

Then I woke up the next morning and I had a full rash all over my stomach. I also had 10 new pimples total - big ones too! Let's just say that I'm not going to be trying out any cooked foods anytime soon, thank you very much.

Thanks for sharing your story, I think it helps for others to see what happens on raw. By the way I've been raw for about 2 months and some spare change.
