As a SAD compulsive overeater, I've been increasing my raw food intake since finding this forum a few months ago.
These days, I do a green smoothie or fruit in the am. Salads or vegetables at lunch, sometimes with some cooked soup. Then a salad and cooked dinner. As I stop preparing as much cooked food and increase my 100% raw meals, a stange thing is happening: I am eating /bingeing on fast food. To me, its crazy that I'll eat organic apples and berries, juice greens and drink smoothies, only to then stuff my face with four hambugers. With fries.
As I increase my raw food intake, I also am increasing my fast food intake. Help! If I could figure this out on my own, I would...but I can't. I KNOW fast food is bad. I KNOW raw is good. Is there a middle ground between these where I (and my digestive tract) can find some peace?

My mom says it's human nature that as soon as you tell yourself "i can't have xyz," you'll go all out and rebel against the restrictions. I find myself doing this all the time. Also, if you're detoxing from these addictive foods the cravings will kick in you'll want them more and more so you're just keeping the craving alive. You have a great start though, keep it up and try to cut out/down the fast food!

Well, you got a couple of things going on, first is your User ID name
koffeekake now does that make you want to eat raw fresh ripe living food?
just a thought
and also, if you are keeping ANY cooked food in your life, then you will have cravings very badly, this is a known fact, the only way to get over those cravings is to transition very very very sloooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwlllllllly, like over a period of years, or to go 100% cold turnip right NOW.
the first thing I would do is drop those cooked soups, and make a delicious raw soup at lunch, so far so good, then if you want a cooked dinner, fine, have steamed veggies, and the rest raw, but I sure wouldn't go anywhere even near a fast food place for at least the first two months raw, don't even think it, don't go there.
I'd say 100% is the ONLY way for me, others can do it differntly, I can't
so, hope some of this will help you out.
you CAN do this, if you really want to, it is all up to you.
you don't HAVE to go raw,--- you GET to go raw.
Hey, I'm gonna' use that!!! WOW, what a concept!!!

Hi koffeekake,
Before I made the decision to go 100% raw I ate a HUGE fast food hamburger, fries, milkshake, 1/2 a pint of Ben and Jerry's, 1/2 a box of hot tamales and whatever fattening sugary substance I could root out in the house. It was disgusting. I think my brain was like get it while you can because you can NEVER have it again. Which isn't true (although maybe...) but my brain totally rebelled. Maybe since you are doing the half way thing your brain is thinking "crap, where is all the sugar, the fat? Is she going to keep doing this to me... I need MORE now! That'll teach her." You just have to show the naughty side of your brain who is boss and go 100%. It is a lot easier than you think.... and ohhhh it tastes so good! Much better than the $6 origanal cheesburger and chocolate malt from Carls Junior in engulfed a while back. And the Ben in Jerry's that is still sitting in the fridge whispering my name... But instead I throw a frozen banana, cashew butter and carob in the blender. My body is happy and brain doesn't freak out anymore about needing crap food. Hope this helps. Your not alone!

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice. I was vegan before going raw 8 days ago and have no problems with wanting other foods.
I just wanted to point out to the others that your name is KoffeeKaTe and not KoffeeKaKe.
