we used to buy almonds at Costco (they are raw in the US) and they used to be $7.50 for 3 pounds, then they went up to $15.00 for 3 pounds, now they are down to $10.99 for 3 pounds, this is a good thing, we bought a bunch. YES!!!

I thought I read something the other day on here about it's impossible to get truly raw almonds. Do you know anything about this?

nope, I get truly raw almonds every fall from our almond trees, they are little so they dont' produce enough to keep us in almond milk all year long, but we use our almonds totally organic and raw and they are delicious.

Actually almonds are one of the nuts that are "truly" raw even when shelled.
Most other nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.) are not (but are if you get 'em in the shell). :)

Why are other nuts not considered raw? Are they heat-processed when the shells are removed?
I was looking in the bulk bins at the store the other day and I was thrilled to see shelled Brazil nuts [my favorite!]. They also had cheap walnut pieces ... I am thinking about making some Live Gardenburger from the recipe board and making lettuce wraps with it.

RP, I had actually noticed that the price of Almonds had gone down too, hopefully it's supply and demand that has made this happen. I hope the same happens as more people want organic fruits and veggies too. :D .
Take Care
