I've recently been practicing a new little eating exercise to physically enhance my chakra balance. I thought that some of you might be interested. The whole idea is that you choose a day every month or whenever you feel like it and you eat only the colors of one chakra at each meal for that day. This works best with fresh, raw fruits and veggies. It's supposed to be very cleansing and balancing. Here's the basic guideline for it but you can do it however you like. There are a few different chakra models (7, 13 etc. but I'm just dealing with the 7 model for this excercise). I quoted some info from this site about each chakra: http://www.sacredcenters.com/chakras.html. I'm sure most of you know all about them but for the sake of presentation I set it all up nice and neat.
Start witht the first chakra and eat your way up ending with the seventh. Try to space out each meal as equally as possible. I even went as far as to wear the colors of each chakra for each meal to enhance the vibrations. This can also be done with the fresh juices of these things if you have a juicer. Be creative! I have noticed a feeling of well being and balance and cleansing when I do this once a week or once a month.
Red-*breakfast* Strawberries, apples, cherry tomatoes, cranberries etc.
Orange-*Brunch*Oranges, carrots/orange juice, carrot juice, yams, apricots etc.
Yellow-*Snack*Pineapples, lemon juice, white grapefruits, yellow tomatoes etc.
Green-*lunch*Broccoli, peas, cucumbers, pears, zucchini, green apples, lettuce etc.
Indigo-*snack*Blue potatoes, blueberries etc.
Violet-*dinner*Purple cabbage, eggplant, purple onions etc.
Magenta-*dessert*Dark bing cherries, black cherries, raspberries etc.
7th chakra:"Thought, Universal identity, oriented to self-knowledge
This is the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss."
6th chakra: " Light, Archetypal identity, oriented to self-reflectionThis chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels. When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us "see the big picture." "
5th chakra:"Sound, Creative identity, oriented to self-expression
This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus related to communication and creativity. Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound representing language."
4th chakra: "Air, Social identity, oriented to self-acceptance
This chakra is called the heart chakra and is the middle chakra in a system of seven. It is related to love and is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity. A healthy fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, have a deep sense of peace and centeredness"
3rd chakra:"Fire, Ego identity, oriented to self-definitionThis chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus. It rules our personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power. "
2nd chakra: "Water, Emotional identity, oriented to self-gratification
The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to the element water, and to emotions and sexuality. It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement. Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change. "
1st chakra:"Earth, Physical identity, oriented to self-preservation
Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation. It represents the element earth, and is therefore related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the physical plane. Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity, security, and dynamic presence. "
