the body cannot even store protein.(and it recycles proteins)! Sugars and fats are more scarce (and more short-term essential), and can therefore be stored as glycogen, glycerol and fatty acids.
How could we ever believe we need much protein ?

these percentages are a little inflated because they must be by dry weight - and fruit contains lots of water which can limit consumption. from what i understand fruits contains like a 5-9% protein average. yet i still hit my RDA for proteins on a diet predominantly fruits...

It is true that fruits and vegetables contain all the proteins and amino acids we need because everything is composed of the same some odd amounts of elements in different concentrations. Everything contains every nutrient we need, it all just depends on how much is in what.

I got my info from several sources. This one had it in the nicest order. Here it is: when you read it WARNING he advocates eating raw egg yolk and some raw salmon!!!!

you can do google search for protein in fruits, and then protein in vegetables. Joz

I got my information mainly from an awesome raw website I found over a year ago but I can't remember the URL. it's called living foods or something and has green text, a white backround and banana graphics as decor. Sorry I can't be of more help. My information was also a bit of common senseas well because both my body and I know it is correct.

It's funny but I never thought that fruit could fill you up. I always thought of it as something to eat after a meal or as a snack. But I find myself eating a lot of fruits now. For lunch yesterday I had 2 oranges--and that kept me till break time when I had some cherry tomatoes. And I used to a meal at lunch time and then be hungry by break time on the sad diet.
