I decided to do a 100% raw month for June--yeah! But here's the question: I also just started back doing martial arts. The workouts are VERY, VERY intense--a minumum of 2 hours, and for now in a studio with a broken air conditioner so it was like 95 degrees inside last time.
On Saturday, water wasn't cutting it so I had to buy a power-ade. (I was super hot, pouring sweat, shaking, muscles felt like jello, etc.) Within minutes, it totally hepled so I was wondering if anyone had knew how to make a raw version of it.
Thanks,
Myssi

Coconut water/milk is Natures power aid. all others have sugar and white table salt added. So you'r doing your body more harm drinking them.
Yes, coconut water is often said to be high in electrolytes. Also consider adding celery juice to the mix (a good way to replace all that lost organic sodium). Almost any greens may be juiced for a potassium boost (esp. dandelions).
...and if you want to go even further, then you can add a chunk of kelp or dulse to the mix (very high in a multitude of minerals and trace elements) and blend it all up - you may surprise yourself at how 'invisible' the seaweed becomes, from the point of view of taste.
Then there's the possibility of juicing wheatgrass grown with the help of OceanGrown hydroponic solution, which maximises the uptake of minerals and trace elements by the wheatgrass, all of which can benefit you when you cosume the juiced wheatgrass.
Of course, you don't need to do martial arts to benefit from any of the above - I believe we should ALL regularly consume some combination of the above.

This coconut water is pure clear and is one of the highest sources of electrolytes known to man!
Coconut water is identical to human blood plasma which makes it the universal donor. Plasma makes up 55% of human blood. By drinking coconuts we give ourselves a instant blood transfusion

Celery-cucumber juice is another great option. Add some apple too for sweetness.

Is cucumber high in electrolytes? I've never read that but I'd be keen to find out. Obviously, I know it's high in silicon (or at least the skin is). The apple skin will, of course, offer silicon, too, and the fruit in general will supply some boron. Isn't wholefood great? :)

Cucumber is very hydrating and celery has a lot of electrolytes. The saltiness of celery helps to transport the the water from the cucumber into the tissues, so you become better hydrated.
Thanks for the clarification, Brianna.

I have been trying to make something similar, but here's my dilemma. I once read that fresh juices lose the enzymes very quickly, so you have to drink them right away. Here's the thing...If I am going on a long bike ride or racing, I need something that will keep fresh, especially in the hot weather. I'm thinking coconut water might be good with some ice. I have to test it out in training though before I attempt it in a race. My body is so used to gatorade from years of riding, but I only use it during races--it's also very dilute. I've been an athlete since 1984 and that's what my body is used to--old habits are hard to break, but I figure I've been 95 percent raw since December 2005. But, this is one area of improvement I need to focus on :)
