yo,

once in a while i love to eat a raw chocolate fudge bar or raw carob. is this the most terrible thing anyone can possibly do? or not? seriously i am working towards the healthiest diet i can but i want to make it as interesting as possible but have no problem letting go of things that i believe might be bad for me. that is unless it turns out avocados are bad for me.

peas,

Hello harp ~

The raw food diet is not only the most common sense way to eat, but it is the healthiest and easiest way to eat. However, people need to realize that, as with any other "diet", one can go overboard with certain foods. Although raw chocolate bars are a much more healthier choice bar than the SAD counterpart, they typically contain foods like nuts, avocados and chocolate. If eaten too much, it would not the best for the body due to the fat content and the caffeine in the chocolate. As the saying goes "everything in moderation".

I don't believe in counting calories or things like that, especially for newbies switching from a SAD diet to raw. For newbies, eating a lot more raw chocolate bars in the beginning to help satisfy the cravings and avoid returning to a SAD diet will be a much wiser and healthier choice! But once your body is in a more cleansed state, you will want to eat these higher fatty foods in moderation. The great news is that your body will tell you what it needs! The more raw you are, the more acute your senses will be to know exactly how to satisfy your body's needs! :)

HTH! Blessings ~

i've only been raw a month, still i intend to eat raw carob and raw choco only as treat, in moderation as you say. i had a raw carob bar last nite and i was surprised at how much more deliscous it was then the first time i tried it. my fruit smoothie in the morning is what i look forward to the most. sometimes if i really want to go wild i'll make a smoothie at nite too. i know, i'm just a wild and crazy guy

It took me almost 2 months of indulging in anything and everything raw before I grew tired of certain items and gradually my diet worked into a more balanced state. I still have some RAW desserts as a treat- but not daily as before. My theory, on the over indulgence of certain foods in the beginning is that.....you truly begin to TASTE flavors, textures and aroma's that our senses were so deadened to before. I kept saying to my family "I have never tasted anything soooooo delicous"- I was saying this several times a day. Another gift of raw foods lifestyle :)

Hmm.. I eat what I want really, as long as it is raw.. Sometimes I want two avocadoes a day, well, then I eat them and other days I don't want them at all,, In the beginning I was much more into the sweet than I am now, I mean, I could eat honey of a spoon! Last time I tried that I was in schock because it was so sweet.. Give your body time to adjust and the rest takes care of itself! I believe in the wisdom of my body, it is just my mind that needs convintion! :p

I totally know what you mean, Faithfullyfit! You worded it so well. I have been raw for about 2 weeks now, and I never knew what "enjoying" meals meant until I started eating raw. Everyone's getting so tired of me constantly praising how good everything tastes! My mom is even starting to mock me...LOL. They think I am silly when I talk about how happy my body is, but this is the first time it has really ever been happy!
