i also like to put soaked nuts and/or seeds in my (green) smoothies sometimes.. I could see people saying it's bad because of bad food combinations, but I enjoy it and don't experience any discomfort from it... i really like the taste of soaked brazil nuts in mine. I tend to put nuts in my smoothies when I am desiring a more filling meal...

I have been putting nuts in my smoothies for years. If I drink a fruit only smoothie, I find myself getting hungry after an hour or so. I like to put about 10-20 soaked almonds in my smoothies (with some water and a date or two) or almond milk. I have put just about every nut I can think of in them, but I like the almond the best I think. Recently I have been adding "Raw Power" in my smoothies and that seems to add a lot of "sticking" power to the smoothie. It is a nut based protein powder. I am not hungry all morning if I do this. I also add a large handful of spinach and whole oranges with as much of the white pith I can keep on them while still removing the peel. That makes it a meal!

Personally I wouldn't do it because it is not good to combine fats and carbs, however some people do and that works for them.

Once I put a tablespoon of coconut oil in the smoothie and the whole family was tooting all day long. We all had a lot of digestive problems that day.

I just see no point in it for everyday use. Occassionally I will use some nut milk or coconut (water or meat, not the oil) for a fun concoction like Pina Colodas or nutmilk shakes like that, but I use all fruit with greens in our everyday morning smoothies and they work out great.
