Hi,

I've been trying to go all raw off and on for a few years, but have been doing it aggressively for about a month, but I am finding it difficult, I have tried going 100% overnight, and I'll be okay for a couple of days, then I'll binge on SAD. I've also tried by just eliminating meat one week and then dairy, etc, then I get upset and end up bingeing again. I am truly discovering that SAD is an addiction. I am wondering how others transitioned and how they did it successfully.

One other thing I've noticed is that when I do go all raw for a few days, I'll feel great and then have these really negative feelings surface out of no where, like I want to cry and I start getting depressed...is this normal? I've read a lot of books and David Wolfe's Sunfood Diet Success System mentions the negative emotions, has anyone else experienced this and what did you do about it?

The raw food community isn't all that visible where I live and I'm also finding it challenging to meet other raw fooders. I want to create a support system, and tomorrow I am going to an "uncooking class" so hopefully that'll help, any suggestions on how to develop a support system when I can't seem to locate any other raw foodists?

I appreciate any suggestions, so far all I've had are books for information.

HI and WELCOME, you've come to the right place for help, guidance and support on your raw food journey.

First, before I say anything else, get Alissa's book, go to the top of this page, and click on the very far left square, and order her book and DVD set, you won't be dissapointed, it changed my life.

second, I know each person is different, so I'll tell you what works for me.

I went 100% raw overnight, then I would go off, then on, then off then on, but I would wait for months before I would go raw again, because of guilt, shame and embarassment, my issues, not anything to do with raw.

So, I think eating 100% raw is the best way to go, the reason you feel good for a couple of days then have cravings, is that's about how long it takes for your body to start craving cooked, you will get over it, just eat lots of raw when you are hungry, and when you are craving cooked, still eat raw, you can get through it, it isnt easy, but it is sooooo worth it.

just go to your grocery store, or produce stand, and buy at least 2 or 3 of your favorite fruits and veggies, take them home and eat them, then go back and do it again, it really is that simple.
