Hey everyone!!

I had an idea, I thought it would be fun if everyone posted their favourite recipe onto this thread, that way everyone can get a load of new favourite recipes!

This recipe is my favorite. Its a variation of one I got from another thread - its absolutely amazing!:

Avocado Curry Pasta

1 Avocado
Juice of ½ lemon
1 tablespoon of Raw honey (more if you like it kinda sweet)
Curry powder to taste
1/4 cup of water
Handful of Almonds (optional)
3 carrots
½ Cucumber
Portabella mushrooms (Optional)
Tomatoes

Take the avocado, juice of ½ lemon, honey, curry, water. Blend in food processor till smooth.

Take carrots and make into strands with vegetable peeler.

Take the almonds and chop up in the food processor or a coffee mill.

Chop up the cucumber, tomato and mushroom.

Mix avocado curry mixture with veggies and carrots and chopped nuts.

Serves Two

Anybody who thinks its a good idea, start posting!!

Wow, that sounds delicious! I love curry. Too bad I forgot to get avos at the store - I would have made it for lunch!
Lately I have been eating alot of soup. So far this one is my favorite. My all meat and potatos husband even liked it.
It is called fiery lava from Juliano's Raw book.
Carrot juice
ginger
garlic
avocado
jalepeno
basil
nama shoyu

It called for a couple other herbs that I didn't have at the time but it tasted good with just the above ingredients all thrown into the blender. I don't have the exact measurments on hand. Sorry. But I think I used (I didn't make the full recipe) 1 cup carrot juice, 1/2 avo, 1 clove garlic, 1tsp ginger, 2 thin slices of jalopeno and basil to taste and I think it was like a tsp of nama shoyu. You really can't mess this one up! *really spicy by the way

Here;s one of my fave salad dressings:

1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/3 -1/2cup apple cider vinegar
1 garlic clove
1/4 c fresh basil leaves
2-4 T honey
several twists of pepper grinder
1 tiny scoop Himalania salt

Whiz in VitaMix, adjust to your liking, and toss with your salad.

We LOVE it!

You can also add a handful of cashews or macs to make it really creamy.

enJOY!

This is my new favorite summer cooler drink/meal...

1 lemon, rind and all
4 apples seeds and all (I use golden delicious)
1" or so ginger root
handful of greens

Blend all in a blender and strain in a nutbag (or use a juicer, but you don't need a juicer to make this which is a bonus)

Usually I'll put the juice back in the blender and add some ice to make it a little slushy.

Tastes like a melted lime popsicle, especially if you don't go heavy on the greens. Very refreshing and cooling and snappy and light -- perfect for our nasty summers here.

okay, here is a new recipe of mine, super fast, super easy and super delicious.

I call it,

Brownies

1 cup walnut (unsoaked)
1 cup dates (pitted unsoaked)
1/4 cup cocoa powder (you may use carob if you like)

place in food processor, and blend until well blended, should still be dry and chunky, maybe blend about 30 seconds,

press into a small spring form pan

refridgerate until you can insert a knife and it isn't too sticky

cut into little pieces, then pop into a zip lock baggie and freeze

they can be eaten fresh, from the fridge or from the freezer, they won't last long though, these are my newest addiction. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

You will need

ripe bananas
pureed sweet fruit or honey water or agave syrup or sweetened coconut oil
chopped nuts

Take really ripe bananas and peel them.

Chop up your favorite nuts in teensy pieces. You can use food processor if you want.

Wet the banana with the sweet stuff. I like the flavor of soaked, pureed apricots.

Roll banana in the nuts.
Put in a baggie

FREEZE them.

YUM! These are awesome when you want ice cream.
Try mixing carob powder in coconut oil and using this to wet the banana.
Sometimes you have to sort of PRESS the nuts on, but it's worth the trouble

You can use chopsticks or popcycle sticks in the end of the baanana if you want, but I just wrap them in a cloth napkin and chow down.

My favorite avocado recipe yet:

Avocado Salsa:
1 1/2 cups corn kernels
5.50 oz olives, sliced
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 - 5 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
Salt (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 avocados - peeled, pitted and diced

In a large bowl, mix corn, olives, bell pepper and onion. In a small bowl, mix garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, oregano, salt and pepper. Pour into the corn mixture and toss to coat. Cover and chill in the refrigerator overnight.
Stir avocados into the mixture before serving.

This is SO delicious! I usually eat it on lettuce boats, with flax crackers or just straight out of the bowl! :D

This is one of my favorites and I usually make a batch of it each week. For dipping chips in, spreading on nut patties, or as a cheese sauce on a taco salad. Really has lots of uses and tastes great! The SAD eaters in my family request it too, for their SAD chips?! Ha!

Rich Cheddar Sauce
From Rejuvenate Your Life by Serene Allison

1 large red bell pepper
¼ c. water
¾ c. raw cashews, sunflower seeds, or almonds (I use 1 c.)
1 T. tahini
3 T. nutritional yeast (I use 2 T.)
1 ½ tsp. sea salt
2 tsp. onion powder (I use a small slice of onion.)
1 clove garlic
2 T. lemon juice
Whiz in blender until creamy. Add more water if it is too thick.

Okay, I just made these and can we say BROWNIESSSS!!!?

These things are inCREDible I kid you not! Three simple ingredients that produce something SO much like the SAD version which requires about HOW many ingredients to make?

Now, I will admit that I did NOT use carob...I just don't care for the flavor of it...sorry...and not that I 'need' to justify myself/actions, but I figure it this way...if the consensus is out that "raw" cacao isn't truly raw anyway, I just used organic cocoa. But in any event, I'm not sure how they'd turn out with carob and if you like carob, go for it...but with the organic cocoa (or perhaps ground cacao) these would DEFINITELY fool a SAD eater into thinking they were "real" brownies!

Here is the first time we made it it was a cake type thing we were trying to make.
it was pressed into a ring type springform pan chilled for 1/2 hour so it was easy to remove the pan.
then dressed up with choc mint leaves and some cranberrys for color
when we cut it ( in about 12 pieces )and tryed it for taste we were suprized with how the texture and tase was like cooked brownies

 iF I had not helped I would of not known they were not cooked......

I took some with me when I went paint balling and all the guys loved them and said they would buy them if they were for sale :D and asked if there were going to be there at my firework show lol

I just made these and they were everything you said! How simple, how good! I must have gotten a bit too much cocoa in there though as it was pretty strong and not quite sweet enough. It must have thrown off the proportions a little. So I thought that a frosting would tone it down a bit:

The frosting I made was 1/2 of Alissa's recipe on page 512 with the Chocolate Cake:
3/4 c. cashews
1/4 avacado
1/8 c. carob/cocoa
1 1/2 Tbs. honey
3/8 c. water

I tried it first in my FP but since the bowl is so large, it didn't go around properly. So I scraped it out of there and put it in the KTec but it was too little for that also. So I scraped it out of there and put it in the little Tribest that I use for grinding flax and other small jobs and that did it. I guess I should have just made the whole recipe and it might have turned in the machines better. After tasting it, I'm sure I would use it all. So don't be cheap, make the whole recipe.

The idea worked really well though. It is like a nice creamy chocolate icing from the cashews so it really mellowed the brownie and added a great finishing touch. YUM!!

doubleg,

RP first shared the recipe with me privately and what I have written down was 2 (heaping) tablespoons of cocoa (or carob), which would be about 1/4 c. So, maybe 1/2 c. might have been a bit too much for you as I think it would have been for me too, though serious chocoholics might find it perfect! :p

So next time, cut the cocoa (or carob) down about half and see how that does ya. I'll have to try it with the frosting next time...sounds good!

Please forgive me it is supposed to be 1/4 cup of cocoa, no WONDER it wasn't sweet enough, my mistake, (I'm always making them) fingers too fast.

so I have corrected the original recipe on this thread.

Thank you Raw priestess

This is a yummmie chocolate treat!

With the raw Honey I get, there are caps on the top, which are crunchy bits of pollen and other benificial things and I save that and use it in my brownie recipie to give it a crunchy taste. YUM.

Also, wrapping some of the conglomeration around a pitted cherry and then refrigerating it is also delicious.

I made these today just before we left to go to a Memorial Day pool party where I knew I would be surrounded by SAD food all day -- I actually used cocoa I ground from 1/4 cup raw cacao nibs and 1/4 cup of Alissa's carob powder. It was sooooo good! I put the mixture into the fridge for about 15 minutes then rolled it into truffle sized balls, then into the freezer for maybe 10 minutes tops before it was time to leave. Packed them in the cooler and they kept me from eating SAD -- and not even relatively good SAD, hotdogs and potato chips; I actually wasn't tempted at all by the hot dogs -- okay, I admit it, I was a total omnivore up until 8 weeks ago -- but I really needed them when I smelled the chips!!

Tonight I came home and made SAD spaghetti and sauce, garlic bread for my dh and ds, and salad with the dressing posted here for me (and dh). It was excellent!! I did add a handful of cashews to it ... YUM!!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!!

MMMM I just had a really yummi nori wrap.
I used
soaked lentils that I blended with nama shoyu and a little lemon juice
marinated (in orange juice, lemon juice and nama shoyu overnight - so delicious!) portabella mushrooms
sliced avocado
I rolled this up in a raw nori sheet and devoured. It was so good!

This morning I made my daughter "yogurt"
coconut meat
rice milk
handful of spinach
1/2 frozen banana
blended this up. It had a nice thick consistacy. Enought to fool my 15 mos old into thinking it was her most favorite food in the world.... YOGURT. So now we have green yogurt in the mornings and she practiacally inhales it. I have also made this with bananas instead of coconut meat and added carob.

Here is a raw recipe for chocolate or fudge:
(I don't have measurments, if you change the measurments it changes the texture, you can make them hard or soft or crumbly or chewy).
In a food procceser blend the following:
Coconut oil
Tahini
Raw cacao nibs
Carob pwd.
Agave
Vanilla extract

I press this into a zip lock bag or a lid to a tupper ware and put in the freezer.
You can add nuts or shredded coconut or sprouted then dehydrated buckwheat!
I hope you like them!

Do the brownies taste like dates? That's one thing i hate about larabars (and other date-based raw food) it tastes like dates (which taste like raisins, which I dislike.) I can handle dates as a supplemental ingredient, but when it's pretty much the main one, not so much...

Just wondering, I keep trying different recipes, and I end up with like 1 out of 3 that I actually eat. I tried making that cheese sauce before and it was this gross, almost watery-grainy bland mixture. I made some cucumber dill dressing which was a watery mess. I was never a great cook. Apparently I'm not a great uncook, either.

Hi codajess,

no the brownies don't taste like dates at all! Now that I write it, I wonder why ;) But really they don't. My dh doesn't like dates and he loves the brownies.

About trying out recipes: I have been a bit unlucky myself with a cheese, some pates and dehydrated things (my dehydrator is crap, love to have an Excalibur, but don't know how to do that as I live overseas in Asia).

But I keep trying and trying and some things turn out really wonderful, that is good motivation!

Aha! I made the brownies before I saw the correction. I used 1/2 cup cocoa. They were good, but I felt like they needed less cocoa. Perhaps this is why they didn't hold together well? Everyone liked them but my dad kept complaining because they totally crumbled. In the crumbled state it seemed like it would be a good ice cream topping. If you like ice cream, that is.

I don't like dates....the brownies don't even hint of a date taste...that's why I love them.

I don't like Lara Bars either, but I love my 'Lara bar' concoctions.

For RP's brownies, I use the ground, extruded dates, as they are cheaper.
For anyone with an allergy to oats (celiac disease) don't use them because they are dusted in oat flour.

They're so easy that I don't use any particular 'recipe'....just what I have on hand. Everything is done in the processor and then I mold it in a tofu press, take out immediately, cut and refrig or freeze.

Since I don't measure, I just add whatever I want and process it until it holds together, tastes right and ....it's done !!

Try:

lemon zest, lemon juice(just a little), coconut, golden raisins, nut of choice...add a little oat if desired to make it granola like

fresh ginger, coconut, golden raisins (dark raisins and dates are too strong for the ginger), nut of choice,

dried banana, cocoa or carob, date or raisin, walnuts or pecans

dried pineapple, coconut, nut

You can add a little coconut oil to any of these, or add rolled oats, barley, etc. Sometimes I add wheat germ, you can add ground flax......just about anything, and it needs no dehydration. My husband likes me to put in some
gren powder....I can't handle those, but he loves them.

Look at the ingredients on the Lara bar you like, and copy until it looks and tastes right for you.

Sorry blessed! I haven't gotten to this thread in a while!

Are you talking about the chocolate fudge recipe? If you want it thicker you simply add more cacao and carob, and if you don't want to add a ton of that it will be running at first, until you put it in the fridge or freezer, then it thickens up like chocolate, and yes you can cut it! I let it sit in the fridge?freezer for a little while but not long enough for it to get really hard, and then I take a nife and make lines so then when it gets harder you can just break it into nice square peices! I hope this helps!
