Hello, everyone!
I was surfing the web yesterday while researching Raw food lifestyles, and came accros this website. I spent many hours pouring over the postings and gathered much valuable info. and delicious-sounding recipes. I also read Angela's posting, and visited her website (very inspirational!). I realized that the Raw food lifestyle was/is a doable solution to my long-term health problems--especially my morbid obesity.
A little background info:
I am a 39-yr. old Divorced mother of 4 (2 grown daughters). My eldest son was abducted by my ex-husband in Oct. 2002, and taken to Damascus, Syria. He cannot leave until he turns 18, and I have no rights in that country--long story :( .
I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid cancer in September, 2004, and had a total Thyroidectomy in October, 2004, including the removal of the lymph nodes around my trachea (the cancer had began to spread). I underwent I-131 Radiation treatment in November, 2004, and will see the cancer specialist in May of this year for a follow-up exam. I am currently taking thyroid replacement medication (a generic equivalent to Synthroid).
I still cannot believe that I had cancer, but with all of the environmental contaminants in my rural farming area, my horrible life-long diet, and the incredible amount of stress I have been living with for the last several years it is really no surprise. I have decided to change what I can control, and let Spirit handle the rest :) .
I am very happy to "meet" everyone, and am excited to be able to share this journey with you!

Hi Marla,

Welcome :)

You sure have come to the right place for support and information.

I also have a thyroid condition, Hashimoto Thyroiditis, Hypothyroidism, had a cold nodule (non-cancerous) and small goiter. Since going high raw, my thyroid meds were cut back, so I know eating raw does help our body to heal itself. I was on Synthroid and was extremely sick. I then switched to Armour Thyroid and within 10 days felt great and actually started to lose weight. Then when I went high raw, even more weight fell off. You are on the right track with looking into eating RAW!!!!!

My heart goes out to you Marla. I pray that the raw food lifestyle will bring about dramatic changes in your life and that you will no longer have to deal with cancer in any way, shape or form. I'm so sorry about your son. My 17-yo son moved back to Florida 1-1/2 years ago and it was so difficult for me - I can't even begin to imagine your pain and sorrow. I hope that we, in some small way, can contribute to your healing through support, love and humor.

Bless your heart!

Warm welcome to you Marla! I'm glad you found this site--a community of friendship and support for you on your journey.

My heart just ached for you when I read about your son. :( I firmly believe that everything that happens, happens for a spiritual purpose, and happens to provide everyone involved with valuable spiritual lessons. I'm sure Spirit will look after you and your son, as hard as it may be.

Again-I'm so glad you were guided to this site! We'd be thrilled to share you're journey with you. This afternoon I am going to a raw potluck hosted by a lady that almost died last year due to thyroid conditions and she healed herself with raw. I will share what I learn of her story when I return, as I'm sure it will be of interest to everyone dealing with thyroid issues.

We're with you Marla!

Blessings of health and healing to you~

Welcome Marla! I'm sorry to hear about your life's troubles, but I'm happy to hear that you are going to take control over the things you can change.
It's so good you've found this place and got so much inspiration from the information/people here.

I wish you all the best as you start out on this journey.

I'll pray your body will fight the cancer, hopefully when you see your specialist in May he will have good news.
