Hi Everyone,
Today is the day. My 1 year milestone being raw!!!!!!!!!!!!
I freakin' did it, and continue to eat the uncooked.
My stove is dusty, my belly flat, and my heart all a flutter.
I want to thank Alissa and the entire crew for your thoughts and wisdom regarding raw.
I truly am a changed guy.
One of these days I'll post a photo.
Peace from blizzard central,
M.B.

Monkey Boy,
Congratulations! That's is absolutely fantastic! Please tell us a little more about your success, like how much weight did you lose? How much of a "belly" did you have before? I'm asking because my husband really needs to lose about 50 pounds and I'd like to share your success story with him. Maybe it will motivate him, but maybe not - he's content with his weight.
Oh, and what state is "Blizzard Central"? How much snow did you get? I'm jealous - we got snow last night too, but just about an inch. Since I live in the central basin of Middle Tennessee, it's rare that we get much snow. However, if I were to drive 20-30 minutes east to the Cumberland Plateau, they get a lot more up there. Not fair!!!

Hi Everyone,
Nutrimom wanted to know my story. Sorry to bore you, but here's a quick rundown of what I did and continue to do.
Jan. of 2004 I weighed 210lbs.
I wasn't feeling great. I knew I had more energy and wanted to get fit. My shirts and pants a bit tight. 38 inch waist then.... 34 inch waist now. I didn't have a beer belly because I'm 6'3", and carried the extra weight quite well.
I read about raw in Gourmet magazine and then was a contributor to another raw food site. Alissa sent me a private email one day and I was really hooked.
I went cold turkey. January 23 of 2004 I started eating only raw. I ate a lot of raw soups and green drinks. It was all mental. I had the drive and the will.
I lost 30lbs in 90 days. That's fast.
I then lost another 15 lbs. and started to get scared becuase I was dropping too much weight.. I was as low as 165lbs and then consulted a nutritionist. I now weigh a solid 170lbs. I've maintained that weight for the last 6 months.
I went through the whole detox thing and ached for about a month. My back and legs really hurt, but it was a good hurt because I was seeing results.
I became a calmer guy and started to feel a warmer love for myself and to the people I share my life with. ( Wife, kids, co workers)
I then quit my job after 12 years. I left on good terms, but needed a change for the newer me. I planned things out and I'm very happy working for a European carmaker.
My diet is very basic. A lot of fruit and veggies. I don't do much prep. I do a lot of blending and really enjoy a huge plate of greens.
I live in Connecticut and hope someday to appear on Oprah and talk more about raw. When is she going to call ? HaHaHa!!!!!!
I feel a great kinship to my good friends: Alissa, Rawkinlocs, and Curtis .
This site is great and I enjoy reading your posts.
Thanks for putting up with my silly humor.
Peace From Connecticut and 3 feet of snow,
M.B.

Hi Everyone,
Twinyoga wanted to know more about what my family thinks.
My kids bust my chops constantly. "Hey Dad want some ice cream?"
"Hey dad that's coffee....it's against the rules"
Yes, I admit I drink a bit of coffe now and then.
The kids are very aware of what's good for them. They love cucumbers, carrots, and sea salt.
I let them watch SUPER SIZE the movie. They don't want Mcdonalds. That movie should be viewed by every 4th grader in Amerca. It should be required viewing to pass to the 5th grade.
My wife is 75% raw. She's hooked ,but every now and then she'll wolf down a bag of Cape Cod brand potato chips.
My Mom thinks I'm nuts. She was raised in Italy. Food, food, and more food, I think that is the Italian motto.
As many on this site know I love my wine. I truly feel wine is a part of who we are as people. It's a mellow and social drink that goes back many years.
Peace,
M.B.

Congratulations and much applause over your success! :D
I'm jealous about the snow. I left Philadelphia (yeahhhh Eagles!!!!!) 5 years ago and have hardly seen a flake since then (except my husband). I miss it. :(
