I like salsa on my salad, but perhaps this is because I like Mexican food and I also dislike oily dressings.

You can try the suggestions in this thread: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11741&highlight=free+dressings

I was going to suggest using advocado in place of the oil OR, just use the oil but use less of it OR switch from olive oil (if that's what you're using) to a lighter oil like maybe flax - at least I "think" it's lighter, I don't really use flax oil myself...just a thought.

the oil in the dressing, is what holds the flavors of the other ingredients on the salad, I like Rawkinlocs' idea of just using less oil, but you could also use something like nuts or nut milks, or tahini, or coconut meat with some water, or juice, or I often use cucumber to add to salad dressing to make it hold onto the salad, I've also used honeydew seeds in dressing before, it is actually really good.

Also, spinning your salad to remove any water will help hold the flavors onto the greens too,

Oh, yes, you can also use tomato in your dressings to help hold the flavor in.

Here's a good one I got and "modified" from www.fredericpatenaude.com

equal parts of mango,
tomato + balsamic vinegar
& other seasonings??? to taste

Blend in your blender and "VOILA" simply satisfying!!! It's almost like a french dressing....sweet but salty...I loved it! Good luck!
