Can you 'uncook' with Aloe Vera plant?

I was curious if you could prepare meals with Aloe Vera? I know health food stores sell the drink. I'm not sure how it would taste- anyone know?

My mom used to drink it but said it tasted horrible. It's most commonly used as a laxative. So unless you need this property, I see no reason to consume it.

You can cut it open and scoop out the clear gel (the gel is not bitter, just the green part is) and blend it up with some orange juice or other juice in the blender, or I have also eaten it plain.
