I am 12 weeks pregnant with my second child. I had a very difficult pregnancy with my first. A little history: I went into the hospital at 30 weeks for "preterm labor." I stayed on bedrest in the hospital hooked up to drugs until 34 weeks when I suddenly went into severe preeclampsia and my blood pressure shot up to 185/105. They thought I had a stroke so they induced me, but still had me on drugs that stopped labor which helped with the blood pressure, anyway, needless to say I only dialated to 1 1/2 cm after 10 hrs of labor on pitocin. So, I had a C-section at 34 weeks with my son. My son spent only 2 weeks in the NICU after being born not breathing. It was a miracle he was able to come home that quickly. Anyway, I am having a homebirth VBAC this time and my midwife says I need 80-100 grams of protein. Last time after being on bedrest in the hospital for a month, I just stopped eating pretty much so I know nutrition played a large part in my condition. I am worried about getting enough protein while going raw because I definitely do not want to go through all that again! Do any of you know if it is a greater risk in raw pregnancies? Sorry this is so long, just want to make sure I am doing the right thing for my baby. Any help is appreciated!

Raw pregnecy is definitely a big plus in my book (thoguh I have never been pregnet and won't be for a while, but have read many testimonies on here). Protein for SAD is defintiely different then for raw. I assume she's talking about animal protein? In that case I'd read Alissa's protien information on here if you havn't already. You can get plenty of the proper protein from greens, fruits, nuts, and seeds. You don't need 100 grams of animal protein tot be healthy. Click on the banana at the top and look for more links using "pregnecy or raw pregnecy" as the key word(s). I know others will follow me with their experiences. I wish you luck!
