I've been doing this for a few weeks and am in heaven, except for physical and emotional detox, but hey, it's got to happen sometime. So, are banana chips raw?

Can't we make our own in a dehydrator? Has anyone done that?

I LOVE homemade ones but they aren't like the ones in the store because those are fried. When you dehydrate them yourself, they don't get crunchy like those but rather chewy and I personally prefer them that way as opposed to the crispy ones in the store.

Thank you all for the info, I guess banana chips are out till I find a dehydrator! Thanks again.

I think you can make your own crispy if you cut them really thin and dry them longer. If you cut them thick-ish and let them dry longer they turn into little rocks lol, I made that mistake!

My kids love the "tree trunks" we concocted by cutting bananas into fifths and dehydrating them overnight (at least)...They actually look like tiny tree trunks the way they shrivel up! They are chewy not crispy....but full of flavor. We have also dehydrated entire bananas with the same taste/texture results.....but my kids make too many wise comments about shriveled up bananas  Tree trunks are good though!! Also, I have been able to make crunchy banana chips by freezing them once they are dehydrated....then they get crunchy! :)
