Is spirulina necessary or a waste of money. I do 3 tspn. per day. I'm thinking 100% raw and widely varied diet is all that is necessary - no "supplements" needed at that point (B12 controversy not withstanding). Any comments or advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Most spirulina cannot even be absorbed by the body because the cell walls are designed in such a way that we can't break them down and get the goodies inside. There is one kind of Hawaiian spirulina that is absorbable, but I don't remember which one it is. You'd be better off putting your money into E3Live (blue green algae) if you want a good algae product (which I do believe algae is very important).

You seem clear on the issue. The B-12 additional supplementation is all you really need to worry about. Get checked and you'll be sure. Most everyone in the overfed parts of the world are in a state of nutritional excess, mainly calories. Actual vitamin and mineral deficiencies are quite rare in western societies and usually are that of absorbtion and/or assimilation issues.
Yeah, it's a waste.
