I have been vegetarian for over 30 years as I started as a child and vegan for the last 6 years. I need to lose weight and saw an ad for raw food that is prepared and delivered to your home, so I ordered it and will begin on Tuesday.

I live in Los Angeles so there are a lot of raw options here. I can't wait to start and see what happens. I hope I don't have too many detox issues. I am going to purchase some books and do more research so I may make my own food and not have it delivered.

I went to a raw restaurant in San Francisco and few months ago and the food was delicious. I hope I can find some recipes that will be equal to that.

I'm so happy that I found this site. I have a lot to learn and there seems to be quite a bit of info on here.

Welcome to the site.
I think that you are starting from a good base because I found that the transition from vegetarian to vegan was harder than to raw. You also have the advantage of living in the best location and within a short distance of raw groups and support.
You should get Alissa's book and do the 30 day challange.

Welcome... that's so great you have all those options! Is eat Raw 'common' in CA?

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Raw is not uncommom here. That's why there is a raw food weekly delivery service. There are several restaurants that are fully raw and I know of another one that is going to be here by the end of the year. There are also raw options in some of the vegan/vegetarian restaurants.

I've decided to do the 30 day challenge. Do I need Alissa's book before I start it? I am going to try to track it down today but if I need to order it, I know it won't be here by Tues.
