I am new to this forum this week. I just posted once so far. I ordered Alissa's book and can't wait to receive it. I have been 75-100% raw since the beginning of the year, but with lots of cooked cheats that were SOOOO not good for me (mostly lattes, but also cake, chips, dairy a few times, refined sugar crap, and steamed vegs--not all in the same day! LOL!) I know intuitively that 100% raw is where I am meant to be and headed for. It is just a matter of when it happens naturally. I know it will be sooner, rather than later. I plan on doing the 30 day raw challenge and will mostly likely start June 1st-ish. Then I will post pics, etc and plan on keeping a journal also. My user name is rawnpawgirl because I love animals, especially of the canine persuasion and am a dog trainer/consultant as well. I know you didn't need all the background info before i delved into my question, but you got it anyway!
I have a ? about green juice vs. green smoothies. I keep reading about how everyone drinks green smoothies. I have been green juicing almost everyday for awhile (different variations of the green lemonade in Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose). After reading all the posts including the infamous Green Smoothie, I tried one and HATED it. I can drink 20+ oz of green juice, no problem, but the green smoothie was just too much. I felt completely full after three sips and it was just so thick and full of greenie roughage which tasted gross  . Now, my blender is not K-Tec or VitaMix. It is your basic Hamilton that pretty much starts smoking with a few frozen bananas in it. but, since it isn't blown out yet and since I just invested so much $$$$ in my spiralizer, dehydrator, food processor, etc. I am not justifying to get the good blender until it does die on me.
Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong? Is it just the blender or is it supposed to be that thick and weird? They sound so yummy when ya'll (I lived in TN for 3 years, now in CO) describe them. Are they better than juicing? Aren't Green smoothies not really following the food combining principle of fruit alone, only apples with veggies? Newbies have such a plethora of questions. The raw learning process is just so fun!
Thanks in advance for your great comments! ;)
