After having a very stressful event this week....my 8 year old daughter was thrown off of her horse and took out a railing on the fence with her head.....yes, she was (praise God) wearing a helmet...my Stress level hit the HIGH mark and by the time we got home drained- my husband ordered pizza and diet cola, although it was thin crust veggie- haha! My thought is this....why do we call it comfort food when it makes us feel anything BUT comfortable  - I have been physically ill for 2 days....after breaking my 100% Rawness and very dehydrated and bloated-UGH! :(
I am going to pick myself up, dust myself off and only put only true nuturing food and comforting foods in my body-and hopefully feel better soon !
Have a GREAT day everyone!
Take Care,
FF

Hey FF...
I'm sorry to hear about your slip up as well, and I'm sorry you're not feeling good. :( But we all have these moments every once in awhile. Don't let it get to you too much, and get right back to where you left off Raw. Just think... eventually you'll have a RAW comfort food to turn to. Maybe you could pick one that when things like this happen... you already know what to grab for. I too used Pizza as my comfortfood. But now I pick from a few different RAW foods. I have three different choices that I chose from depending on what my tastebuds are craving. And I keep these foods for only when I need comfort food, that way, they are as special as that Pizza would have been... but I'm happy with myself after I eat them. Hope this helps. Best of Luck in your Raw journey!

I have had a great day enjoying the amazing flavors of every fruit and veggie that I could gather at the store :) My SAD hangover is getting better. I will make my favorite RAW Carrot Cake this weekend- have that as my new comfort food! last week I ordered the pizza from raw lifeline hoping to have that -blech!!! not so good:(
I look forward to the day- when there are nothing that tempts me more than something delicous and RAW!!

Faithfullyfit,
sounds like you have a great attitude about food, good for you.
when I eat anything cooked, I can look forward to many months of struggle, so I just CAN'T go there. which is a good thing.
I love your avatar by the way, you look so beautiful and happy with your horse, who is also beautiful too

Wow, Faithfully Fit! I am so sorry to hear about what happened with your daughter. That is very scary! I am so, SO glad that she is okay and was wearing her helmet. My daughter rides and never wanted to wear her helmet cuz' she said it made her look way too freaky and then she witnessed a horse take off with a girl who's foot got caught in the stirrup. The horse went at full speed three full times around a big arena. It was like witnessing a torture and I could not believe I was seeing what I was seeing. Her head was BASHED against a steel fence post and I thought OH DEAR GOD, I am going to see a girl die today. Well, she didn't die ONLY because she was wearing her helmet. Every bone in her body was broken, but she is alive thank God, the ONE, the Universe, whatever you choose to call THE DIVINE! Now my daughter wears that ugly helmet that makes her head look weird everytime!
I feel for you seeing that happen to your little girl. I also have an eight year old (my 12 year old is the one who rides). So... bottom line... I am so proud of you that you had only a thin crust veggie! That right there is a victory! and you are not agonizing with the G Word (guilt) but moving right along with a positive and proactive attitude, not Woe is me, I did so wrong and I suck, boo hoo. Hurray for you! I wouldv'e had a thick crust with italian sausage, chased down with many beers and then some Haagen Daaz. Just kidding, but you get the point. Take care and warm wishes,

Rawnpawgirl.....
So glad to hear that your daughter wears a helmet. That must have been scary to watch the other child get so injured  I am also contemplating the steel reinforced protective vest along with her helmet ;) . The night that it happened and I ate the yucky SAD food- I cried...thinking "What if....?" I was tempted to say NO MORE Horses or at least no jumping- that was the maternal reaction. But, my daughter excels at english jumping and cross country events and is in heaven when she is on a horse- I guess we just need to focus more on safety. We are in the middle of selling our house in the burbs' and moving to 13 acres so we can own more of these gorgeous creatures- I have a 5 year old who is scared of them so...he is the saner of my two children -lol
about the pizza....I am still bloated- ugh! I have had only mono- foods and green smoothies since? can't get rid of the bloat or the salt cravings- feeling very down and for no reason- that food is "lethal" . My skin is even showing a reaction to all of the salt, grease and chemicals.
from now on only TRUE comfort food !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many Blessings to everyone on their own RAW journey,

RP,
I hope it does not take months...but, so far it has been a few days with cravings for salt and fat....and BLOAT :( I think I also can't have a slip up like that without serious consequences....not really much guilt as it is misery!!! And thanks for liking my new avatar- I love this photo too- that is my friends horse, her name is "Naddie". She is the SWEETEST horse I have ever met- this photo was taken on my 40th birthday,I was 3 months RAW out at the farm on a gorgeous day and Naddie was trying to eat my earrings that I had on and was slobbering all over my neck and ears- I could not stop laughing.!!!!!
Many Blessings to you RP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Good job Mom on having her wear a helmet! And also for allowing her to continue her love of riding. I rode and competed Nationally for a while and was a trainer and ran an Equestrian Center down here for sometime. We always taught that a good rider doesn't come off unless the horse goes down. Now we alll know there is a long journey until that happens and once your there you're generally in such a competitive field that the horse does indeed take spills (I was there training Jumpers). Safety equipment is essential, I would recommend the vest if she continues her journey. Alas, competitive riding, leather, etc. does not enter my Vegan lifestyle any longer, but my love of horses continues. That is a gift you are giving her that lasts a lifetime. :)

I feel your pain, ff. I ate some Pho, which is vietnamese beef noodle soup, two days ago and I am still paying for it. It had MSG in it, which I am highly sensitive to, and I had a head ache, bloat, and a broke out face the next morning. The head ache lasted all day yesterday and I'm still bloated and my face is still broke out today. I thought, oh a little soup won't hurt. Lesson learned I hope! I knew it would affect me, but geez!
