I saw this on another board and thought it was hilarious.

"Yesterday I was eating a durian(the most delicious fruit in the world, but very smelly) in my dorm at college. so I was nearly finished and I heard banging on my door, and before I could answer two security guards and three firemen barged into my room and rushed me out of my room, at the same time the fire alarm went off. a minte later they came out and asked me what I was eating...long story short some one smelled the durian and thought it was a gas leak.... hahahah"

Oooh that's daring, eating Durian in your dorm...I just had some for the first time this summer...it is SO good! I may just have to risk offending my roommate next semester and keep some in the room..
Is it me or does it taste even better after being refridgerated a day or 2??
I don't know about the third day, it's never lasted that long!! :D

A couple things about durians here in Thailand.

Durians can't be brought into hotels. Basically any public place that is not 'open'

Also Thai's think if you eat Durian you will get fat. (However, they tell you you are skinny in the morning then fat at night, or if you go away for one day and come back they think you got fat. I don't know how they can tell so quickly. he he he. It's a culture thing)

Yes, but durian is stinky. And eww. I don't like it.

Same here with Durian, it's not allowed in public places - but the Durians you can buy here are not really delicious either. You have to go to South China for that or to Thailand.

Chinese have the same issue with being beautiful and slim or the fear of not being one of that. The first real words I learned were fat/slim and goodlooking. It's shocking how superficial many are here, it's so striking sometimes. Worries me actually.

Oops, offtopic :)

I love Durian, too!
