View Full Version : How much wheatgrass can you handle?

Most people are horrified when I order 150mL of wheatgrass. I think that's about 8 ounces. lol
Everytime I order wheatgrass I go for more. I want to see how much I can handle. My body always tells me when I've had enough though.
Some guy next to me today wanted to order more than I did, but I advised him not to purely because I've seen what drinking so much can do if your body is not used to it.
I've known people to spew it up within minutes- my bf drank my green juice once and threw up his lunch.
I probably would have had the same thing happen if I didn't ease into it.
I've been drinking wheatgrass regularly for a year. I remember when I had my first sip, it was AMAZING, I love the grass taste.

So how much do you do? My friends still only order 1 shot, they look at me like I've got three heads when I order 5 times as much.

What's the most you can drink at one time? Do you think it's possible to work yourself up to drink more than a whole cup?
I think so.

A friend got up to 24 oz. He was testing as well. Did that for 3 days w/ no ill effects.

Consider this ~ people will drink a 32 - 64 oz. Big Gulps or 3-4 cups of coffee without thinking twice about it. Have at it.

Well, I read in another post how to make your own wheatgrass juice if you don't have a juicer, which I don't--but I do have a K tec blender. And I filled it up about halfway through which is 3 cups of water and put the wheat grass in and blended and then strained it. I drank it all up, I did nurse it for 1/2 hr or so but no bad side effects. It surprised me when I read you should only drink 3 cups or so at a time uh oh lol. I don't think it did any harm. And I love the smell--like fresh cut grass and it taste's like that too. Guess my body must need it that I didn't have any harmful effects from it.

I drink my wheatgrass with no water, just pure grass juice. That may be why you were told to drink 3 cups.

I think that the risk in taking too much is that you will trow it up and then that will put you off. I got sick after taking it and now I hate to even smell fresh mown grass when I go for a walk. Pity.

I haven't tried wheatgrass yet, but just wanted to note that 150 ml is actually about 5 oz. It's just over half a cup. 240 ml = 8 oz. :)

Well, I think what I've been drinking is watered down, so it's not so bad to drink all that. I gave some to my husband to try and he DID NOT like it lol. So I'm the only one drinking it. If I had a juicer, it would be much more concentrated.

I had it once, with Victoria Boutenko, she made it in a blender with lemon and the peel and water, then strained it and it was okay, I wouldn't want to make it again, but I was able to drink a taste of it, not to my liking though.

I think if our body throws it up, it maybe isnt' the best thing to eat, I believe my body has infinite intelligence.

I loved wheatgrass juice until one day I drank 4 ounces at once when I was not used to having it daily. I got so nauseated that I hated wheatgrass juice after that. I still drank 2 ounces every day, but I almost vomited trying to get it down. Now I'm sort of indifferent. I don't love it but I don't detest it either. I still drink 2-4 ounces per day, but never more than 2 ounces at once. I do know people who will drink 8 ounces though, and surprisingly, they don't even eat healthy, they just love the taste of wheatgrass and the natural high it gives them.

I have the same thinking about it... Which is why I haven't tried it yet. We have a juice bar at the mall (they make a great carrot/apple juice, fresh when you order it) that sells wheat grass too but for some reason I haven't a desire to try it yet. I have reservations about trying something that I have to "condition" my body to take in any quantities. If my body is going to reject it at first, then I'm not sure it's something my body wants.
