My friend swears by a hot bath with cider vinegar in it. Says it makes the muscle aches stop. Arnica is something else that works. You can get it in a stick, gel or cream.

Ensure you are getting a good intake of magnesium - it helps relax the muscles.

In fact, a good intake of all alkaline minerals will benefit not only your general health and performance, but will assist in neutralising acids generated, as a byproduct of metabolism, during exercise.

Celery will provide you with plenty of alkaline sodium, and dark leafy greens will yield plenty of potassium. Also consider epsom salt baths. The following two webpages/articles do not pertain directly to your question but they do, nonetheless, contain relevant information on the importance of magnesium etc.:

daisyjellybean, where's the law that says you've got to wear high heels to work? When I last checked, it's not a capital offense to wear flats. Or is your occupation high heeled shoe model? ;)

For magnesium, a great way to get it is to have a bath with Epsom Salts, which is magnesium sulphate, available at the drug store (though I get mine at a rural supply store for $5 for 50 pounds instead of $5 a pound).

You do use your abs when running, especially doing hills.

I am with you on the heels. My flats are my sneakers and running shows. Flats to work ? Never ! It feels weird to wear flat shoes.
