Which ways are there to clean tapwater? Do one have to buy a waterdestilator? Anyone with any interesting links for information about this?

I just did this. I have alot of info. for you. First off - well water or city water?
You need to test your tap water first.
Lots of ways to do this - I did it myself and also had the county guy come and do it.
Simple - i used test kit called "Watersafe" - google it - you can get it anywhere.
My water was perfectly safe right out of the tap, in fact tested my bottled water with the county guy and my tap water was actually cleaner, but I did get a whole house water filter installed anyways. I'll explain why if you're interested. They are not very expensive to install and we love it. Don't waste your money on filtration systems though, unless you really need to clean up your water. Let me know if you have questions.

Im interested in all about it. I don't know a thing when it comes to filtration. I looked up on ebay right before if there were any distillers or so but I really don't know nothing about it or what is necessary. I live in a quite big city so I guess its citywater in my case. Im glad for any information on the subject!

Will things as these be of any worth?

I use a water distiller. I would definitely not drink your tap water, as it contains carcinogenic chemicals, including flouride and chlorine.

What kind of waterdistiller do you use? Would any of those listed in the links above do?

We have our own well, so it has no chemicals right? Is this ok to drink? In my opinion I think it is, but I'd like your opinions. I may be missing something

Everyone. First thing to do is have your water tested. Brianna is right about the flouride and the chlorine. That's one of several reasons why I installed a whole house water filtration system. If anyone wants to know what I did, send me an e-mail.

In my case I live in a little room so there is no possibility to install a water filtersystem and therefor I might need to get a handy manual distiller that doesnt take up too much space.

In your case it may be most cost advantageous to just buy bottled spring water. Distilled water filtration systems are wonderful, but they aren't cheap for a quality product and the ongoing costs.

I guess it would but bottled springwater is hard to find without being carbonated and the ones with just straight water is very expensive if one wants a couple of litres a day. Any recommendations of manual distillers that has quality?

How much does it cost to have a whole house water filtration system put in? There are 4 sinks here and this is a 1700 sq. ft. house, if that matters.

Go to Whirlpool.com and look under water filtration - whole house.
Lots of system makers, I chose Whirlpool because easy and reasonably priced and enough for my needs - I have very safe, clean water though. Just need a reliable plumber to install - I paid less than $200.00 installed and now all incoming water is filtered, not just tap water, though you can really get nuts and individually filter tap water also. To me that was not needed though.

I totally agree. I was looking into a filtration/distiller system recently and found that after the initial purchase of the polycarbonate containers, the cost of really good filtered water is minimal.

I have well water. We used to use our tap, but then we got a new refrigerator. Now I only drink my refrigerator water because there is a filtration system built in. All other water is gross to me. Our well water has a lot of iron in it.

So, by this, do you mean that it's not recommended to buy a small model of a filtrationmachine and go for bottled mineralwater or do you mean that it is a good choice to buy a manual (small) distillerapparatus? Im a littled confused.

First, just have your water tested - read earlier posts - <$20. Next, read Heather's post. It doesn't sound like you're not going to live where you are a long time, just bottled water would be the best, I guess. Lots of good info. on the internet. Good luck.

I need to proofread my posts. On my last post, should be:

There are as many people against water distillers as there are in favour and I recomend that you use the banana and do a search of other threads here to research it. I have a distiller but I have reduced my use of distilled water and use a simple jug filter for most of the water that I drink. I have not installed whole house because I will be building a new house soon but will definatly put it in the new one. Your mouth is not the only way for things to get into your body from water.
I once read that if you do a PH test on tap water and then place your hand in the water for a few minutes and repeat the test the result will be completely different because your hand will have absorbed all the clorine.

Ok, thanks for all your advices!

Sport, does jugfilter a good job with drinkwater?

Sport, does jugfilter a good job with drinkwater?I do not know but just have to thrust it. I like the taste of the water so that must say something. I also find that if I put some in a glass bottle and do not drink it within 2 days it smells mouldy. This would indicate that all the clourine has been removed.

Ok thanks for the tip, I will try this.
