Don't know if ya'll know about this link, but I found it to be very interesting - How to make your own dehydrator with stuff from Home Depot!

Thanks for this link. I love it when people get out there & DIY things that others say "Must be bought". I'd love to whip one of these up (maybe get DH to?). Not sure if I have time but certainly don't have the $$ to buy a dehydrator atm..;-)

Yes I have seen this page, pretty cool. I have a round one I bought at Wal-mart with a temp control, was thinking of making one like this soon. I can make Alissa's pizza with my round one but it would be easier with a square unit instead.

I realize that this post is old but I was at Home Depot last night and found some mesh 'grills' that could be used for shelving if one couldn't find refrigerator shelving or something similar. I picked up three of them last night and my brother is going to build the "box" for me this weekend. I can't wait! I have one of the round dehydrators and I hate it!! I like to spread things out and make lots of things!

That's cool... Except I'm concerned it has no fan. It's not just heat that dries things is the air movement. I'd worry that things would spoil before it's dry...

They have little fans that you can put in the corner of your doorway to move air from one room to another. They aren't very big and I can't imagine they are all that expensive. I think one of those fans would be perfect for moving air in something this size. Thanks for the reminder!
