I would like to know if coconut oil is the same as coconut butter? If they are different does anyone know where to buy some raw coconut butter?

David Wolfe states in Eating for Beauty that oil and butter are essentially the same thing. However, both he and Cousens sell coconut oil and coconut butter. The description of the butter is that the coconut meat is included where the oil is just cold pressed from the meat. The butter claims to stay solid until 80 degrees; the oil until 71-75 degrees. I've never had the butter but you can buy it on Natures First Law (rawfood.com) and Tree of Life (treeoflife.nu) sites.

I have bought coconut butter, which is different from my coconut oil. I occasionally eat a spoonful of the butter for an energy boost. It's tasty!!

They're the same thing. The oil just hardens when it's stored in cold temps (the fridge) and melts when it's at room temperature.
