View Full Version : Cleansing at 17 yrs--juice or water-other?

Hello-
I am 17 years old and almost a senior in high school. I am a cross country runner and I have been raw for about 3 weeks. I want to do a cleanse to flush my body completely and I also want to lose weight. I am 5'5" about 137 pounds...I am not fat but I have a lot of muscle. I feel that if I lose weight it will benefit me for my cross country races for my senior year. I do not know much about cleansing but I have read about both juicing or just drinking water. I would appreciate any advice because at this age and surrounded by a family that eats cooked food (I am the only girl in my school who eats raw), it's difficult to receive support and truthful information. Any advice would be great! Thanks so much!

i've lost about 6 pounds. I don't want to lose too much energy but i'm taking a break between track season and xc season (2 weeks off) So i figured that's when I could fast...or for a least a week?

Is this your fist fast and how much rest will you be able to get? I'd suggest doing water a few days and then juice so you can build strength and energy before your season begins again. That way you can slowly transition to solid foods slowly...

Awesome!! I love to see other people my age doing this. I'm 19. I would suggest doing fresh juices on your fast because you won't lose as much strength this way and the juices also provide antioxidants to neutralize the free radicals that your body has to deal with as a part of the cleansing process and as a part of every day life. I recommend doing green juices in specific.

Thank you so much! It's great to know there are people my age also experiencing this. I have already lost 8 pounds with eating raw and yesterday was the beginning of my first fast! Thanks again!
