I have a friend who is working poor. Haven't known her long so I don't have a lot of details. Her daughter is only fourteen years old and has just been diagnosed with bleeding ulcers. I hope that the girl will be open to the Raw foods diet now that she knows that her stomach aches are a sign of real problems. I plan to bring Mom and daughter to some potlucks to pique their interest. Mom has told me that the girl seems to have an aversion to vegetables. However, I don't see that as an impediment if I can get her to try some green smoothies and some of the other fantastic raw foods. Does anyone have specific knowledge of ulcers and how the Raw foods diet may help?

the late great raw foodist - nutritionist - dr - scientist n.w. walker whom lived to be 118 always said that cabbage juice is VERY good for ulcers . he used the word miraculous in some of his books to describe the healing affects that cabbage juice has on ulcers . and i know from studying and using herbs that yarrow stops bleeding , so maybe a sun tea of its flowers (the white flowers are the most medicinally active) or foilage could help . but i believe in n.w. walker so ide for sure try cabbage juice . goodday :)

I had to pull my book out by Dr. Walker and see what all he had to say, Michigan Roman :) Thanks for reminding me of his book!!!
Here's what he said:
"Duodenal ulcers have responded almost miraculously to the drinking of cabbage juice. The only drawback is the frequent generation of excessive gas. In any case, plain carrot juice has been used with equal success and most people find it more palatable."
He went on to say: "In such case it has been found advisable before much of the juice is used, to cleanse the intestines throughly by drinking carrot, or carrot and spinach juice daily for two or three weeks and taking enemas daily. It was found that once the intestines were able to assimilate cabbage juice, it was invaluable as a cleanser, particulary in the case of excessive adipose weight. When raw cabbage juice is added to raw carrot juice, it forms an excellent source of Vitamin C as a cleansing medium . . . . Cabbage juice has been used very effectiveliy to help the relief of ulcers and constipation."
The book is worth purchasing: "Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices; what's missing in your body" by N.W. Walker, D. Sc. (Dr. Norm Walker).
I would think that most juices and or smoothies would be good for healing the stomach, over whole foods. Seems like I read where someone did juices for their ulcers and within a week their stomach didn't hurt anymore and could eat food. I wish I could remember where I read that. They said it didn't take long for the stomach to heal. I guess a lot would depend on how bad you were, but since she's only 14, I would hope that her damage is minimal. Maybe she could start out with carrot juice and see how she feels.

Yes! Cabbage Juice! My mom cured her ulcer drinking it. Just juice fresh cabbage and add salt to taste. Drink all she will drink. Vegan diet. Hard to get a 14 year old to do this maybe...

i was thinking that maybe you could make coleslaw with shredded cabbage , carrots , almond nut milk , and some type of sweetener . maybe apple to sweeten it .

The late Dr. Christopher used cayenne to treat bleeding ulcers. I know this is counter-intuitive but there is medical research supporting this. Cayenne increases blood flow while stopping internal bleeding. Here is a link about cayenne:

Now how do you get a 14 year old to take cayenne. Maybe in a capsule washed down by a green smoothie!?
PS Just a note in case she does this, a 14 year old should not take a whole capsule to begin with.

cayenne pepper. Get some organic cayenne pepper. do not take in capsule form. make a tea from it.
Do the research and Do it ASAP.

Quick fix for Ulcers (my dad and mom have them and this works everytime, my dad was fixing to lose his stomach and be on a bag until he found this)
On empty stomach drink a straight glass of cabbage juice (no pulp) and then her normal diet the rest of the day
Do this every morning for at least 3 to 14 days or until pain subsides

bacteria have actually been shown to be involved in ulcers. Does she have access to good quality medical services that could help identify if that is a factor for her?

I agree with the idea of cayenne tea. Even better is cayenne tincture. Most 14 year olds will not tolerate the above so, in these cases, capsules are an acceptable if not the ideal form. My elderly father-in-law could not tolerate cayenne tincture as he has a very sensitive digestive system. Capsules worked for him and were helpful.
All these wonderful suggestion given so far are great but much will depend on the family and the 14 year old's willingness.
