It just hit me today that when someone suggests a quart to two quarts a day of green smoothie that I am unsure what this is ment..

I make a blender full everyday.. this will give me two quart canning jars full of smoothie..

Like today I used celery, dandelions, banana, and an apple.. added water and came to two quarts blended green smoothie.. Is this what is ment by this.. Or is there a certain number of greens per quart that is needed... ??

You know how you can be doing something for so long then go brain dead.. just verifying I am doing this right or should I need to add more greens or something??

Victoria Boutenko recommends a 60/40 fruit/greens ratio to start and then increase the percentage of greens as you go. I usually just fill the blender with fruit until it is around 1/2 or 2/3 full unblended, and then use a whole bunch/head of greens, whichever type I am having that day. Today for instance, my smoothie was 3 apples, 1 banana, 2 oranges and a whole bunch/bundle of spinach. That made 2 quarts. If I had to guess, based on the level in the blender of the blended fruit/water before I added the greens, I'd say that the ratio was somewhere around 60/40 or 70/30, even though it was quite a lot of spinach. If I know I have a big bunch/bundle of greens to cram in there, I will blend less fruit first.. Then I will blend the greens and if taste it.. If it needs more sweet then I add it, or drink it down some if I need to and add more fruit.. I can get away with less fruit with some greens, but need more with others..

edit: i just wrote all this and realized I probably didnt answer your question lol.. oh well.. I think 'they' are referringing to the amount of smoothie, not the greens by themselves..

Thanks TP.. this is generally what I do also... but I do add more water to them too to thin it out some... but I come up with anywhere from two to three quarts... very thick... today I made one of two oranges, banana, and dandelions and romaine
