I am looking for information on raw foods. Trying to decide whether this is right for me. This site seems interesting. :)

I am pretty healthy, I haven't had any health problems at least. I am 30 years old. I am a female. I have been a vegatarian for 10 years now. I have ate fish a time or two, but don't do that anymore. I don't have weight issues, except maybe like 10-15 pounds. This just sounds really interesting.
Some people think eating raw eggs and dairy are good for you. I don't know if I could eat it raw though. It just seems gross.

Go to the home page here and go down to "Need to know more about raw". If you read Alissa's posts you will learn a lot.

I've mostly lurked, and I'm just now posting. But from what I can see, very VERY few raw foodists actually eat raw dairy. I haven't seen any posts about eating raw eggs.
Also, if you ate fish during those 10 years, you weren't vegetarian.
Sorry to seem harsh. I just hate when people call themselves vegetarian but still eat meat. It's what gets real vegetarians served meat because "I know a vegetarian, and they eat <insert meat here>"

Actually there are lots of raw foodist that do eat raw eggs and dairy, I just don't wanna do it, I do not feel it is safe. That is why I came to a raw vegan board. If I was to do raw, it would be raw vegan. Not raw vegetarian, or raw meat eater.
I said I ate fish a time or two. Meaning twice. I don't think those two times would cancel me out of being a vegetarian for 10 years. It was in my first month of conversion. At the time I was concerned with not getting enough protein, and thought fish was the healthiest meat. Then I realized that you can get enough protein being a vegetarian.

I do understand your frustration.

I understand. Maybe I mistook it, but I read it as if you were on the fence about starting raw because the idea of raw dairy/eggs was gross to you. I was just saying that it's not a requirement to eat raw dairy/eggs to go raw; and that from what I've seen, very few raw foodists actually do.

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOMEHi, this is a raw vegan site, although there may be some people who chose to eat raw dairy or meat, that isn't what this site is for, it is for the support of eating raw vegan, and we do have lots of really great and knowledgable people here who will be happy to translate SAD (Standard American Diet) into RAW food preparations just for the asking (I know, as I'm one of them) LOL
Anyway, what Alissa says, is just try it, try eating 100% raw meals for one month, start the 30 day challenge, and then when you are finished with the challenge, then make your decision, whether to stay 100% raw or not.
I feal that eating 100% raw fruits and veggies, nuts seeds and oils, is the only way that I will ever be natural in my life, however not everyone feels this way.
so, please read lots of posts, ask lots of questions, as we are all here to help each other, and when you come across something that you want to know more about, we'll be happy to help, as long as it is about raw vegan foods, and the lifestyle, we'll be able to help.
