So - today is day 11. I'm still not losing weight ( I don't think - since I stopped weighing myself ) but I have noticed that my fingernails are no longer brittle and breaking off.

They are growing - and they are strong - but slightly bendable - instead of brittle.

So that's one thing to write home about.

:)

I'm pleased for you that you've noticed some changes, it's very rewarding.

I've noticed exactly the same thing, if it's at all possible, my fingernails look really healthy & are growing very well.

I have not even paid attention to my nails. I am going to start letting them grow and see how mine are. I always cut them down because they would split and peel. Thanks for the info.

I mentioned it on your journal when I commented, but I will reiterate it here too. I have noticed that my nails look great on all raw. They grow VERY fast. This is coming from a person who had brittle nails all through childhood, with short quicks. (is that how you spell it?)

I like that my toe nails are stronger too. I notice that I have to give myself pedicures more often...Which is nice in the summer. I make myself a nice salt scrub...(mix sea salt and nut oil in a jar, with a drop of peppermint oil. Stir and enjoy...but be carefull, it will make you slip in the shower.) This scrub is a great rejuvinator for all your skin, not just your feet and hands. Back when I had more time on my hands, (when i was living in the Caribbean,) I used to make the stuff and sell it to the tourists. I am not sure why, but I attributed my good nails to that, but it was probably the raw diet.

Good going catherine! And don't worry about the scale. The weight loss will come. It is simple statistics.

Cassy.

Hey Catherine,

That's one of the first things I notice too--my nails are not as brittle.

I know the whole weight thing can be frustrating BUT as you said it, it's not that there is nothing happening, rather the body is doing other things in terms of healing.......don't beat yourself up--you've been thru alot health wise and if I remember correctly, thyroid and other meds............the reverse process is intricate and your body is repairing all teh different departments --- the next thing you know, your weight will come off.

dugh, you know these things so i'm not going to be mouthy :p

Ciao Bella,
Linda

Today is day 31 for me, so I made it a month. I guess after you've been raw a while you no longer need to post on here. I notice most posters joined between the middle of last year and this year. I lost quite a bit of weight the first three weeks but now I've got a little bit of a roll that looks like it's going to stay around for quite a while. The last of it is the hardest to get rid of they say. I need to lay off my fingernails, I keep sticking them in my mouth even if I don't bite them. Too much anxiety to worry about that for now though. My nails don't seem any different than before for now and they're quite slow growing. ;) :(

You know I noticed too that this winter I have '0' infected hang nails! I got it so bad last year in winter and had to go to urgent care and have them cut my finger to let it drain- it throbbed like crazy! I couldn't stand it! That is a GREAT healing story for me!

I'm glad that you seeing the 'changes'- just think about what is going on underneath the surface!!!! Yippee!

Cheers to good health and healing!

This is raw day 16 for me. I haven't checked my nails yet. They're covered with tips and acrylic. I keep them covered because they are thin and weak and will split in the center when they tear. Your news gives me hope that mine may improve and I can say goodbye to acrylic forever! Thanks for sharing! :D

Catherine, that's fantastic. Good for you!

Ya know, sometimes the changes in our bodies occur so subtly that we don't even notice. But, one day someone will remark about a problem they "once had" and it will be something that you "once had" and all of a sudden it will hit you... and then you'll realize it! Exacly like Feelin'Good said.

When we start feeling better, we usually don't notice it as much as when we start feeling bad. Everyone likes to feel great and I guess we just take that for granted. But whoa, when we start feeling bad, we notice that right away.

There may be changes going on in your body right now that you don't even realize. Slowly, but surely, you will see improvements. Just hang in there!

I wish I "once had" a craving for cooked food. I like to feel great but I feel pretty bad, way too much mental detoxing going on over this diet. I'm depressed and angry much of the time, but underneath there's a budding joy. Eating cooked all I have is depression and anxiety. Stuck between a rock and a hard place is the story of my life as far as this diet is concerned.

I'm sure there's changes going on in my body right now that I don't even realize. It would probably be more fun to see the results of the internal, physical process, too bad we can't. I hope to see improvements in my attitude so I'll hang in there until they happen. :o :D
