i was in the hfs today and saw that food4life (makers of ezekiel breads and tortillas) is now making a corn tortilla made with sprouted corn. i know it isn't raw -- my question is: has anyone here ever sprouted corn? do you need to use dried corn, then soak and sprout it like other seeds/grains? can you get dried corn that is raw?
i know there are great recipes here for corn tortillas that use frozen corn, but until mid-summer, i can't get organic fresh corn anywhere to eat or freeze and the pre-frozen is blanched. so this sprouting idea sounded interesting.
if this doesn't work out, what do you think of using the "just tomatoes" brand of dehydrated organic corn, rehydrate it and use it for the tortillas -- would the texture work? anyone tried it?
sorry to go on, but some of these products are so expensive, i hate to risk experimenting!
looking forward to your input :p
many blessings to all!

I wouldn't think it very cost effective.

I use corn that we either grow, or buy, and I cut off the kernels, then freeze them in double zip lock baggies to keep, during the winter, I have sometimes resorted to using bagged frozen corn, not my first choice, but will do in a pinch, you can get the non blanched kind at health food stores, I buy the sweet white corn, it is the tastiest in my opinion.

I would call or email the manufacturer about the temp that they dry the corn at, before I bought any.

We bought those tortllas just to try. They are good, but no doubt not raw.
I've been looking for corn to sprout to try my own version, but haven't found it yet. I just use frozen. If the heirloom corn in my garden actually grows, I'll try using that.
