I'm on day five of trying for thirty days, and I'm eating, just today, lots of dates & nuts. Mostly, it's because they're here, and somewhat because I'm hungry. I guess I want some reassurance that it's okay to eat whatever I want, as long as it's raw, especially during this transition period. Right?! Thanks!

Everyone's opinion varies on this.

I say if you aren't feeling like you are eating too many nuts or dates and it's not bogging you down and it's helping you stay raw, go for it.

In time after being raw for awhile you won't need all those nuts and dates so I've read and heard.

I feel (own personal opinion only here) that during the transition period, that is what Alissa's recipes are SO helpful.

If you're doing raw and feel better from it, then continue doing what you are doing.

Just learn to listen to your body and what it needs.

You're already 5 days raw....that's great!

sometimes i feel like i'm eating too much [mostly fruits and some veggies]

but then i'm like...nah.

i guess it depends on you...and how you feel.

Quite often, I hear of people in the beginning few weeks being ravenous. I was ravenous the first two weeks and then after that it tapered off.

I was the same way when I first started raw. I ate nuts and dates by the bagful. But what everyone has said is so true. After a little while of eating that way, my cravings for nuts ended. I think I did make a conscious effort to stop eating them, but it didn't take long for me not to crave them. Also, I find I can't even eat most prepared raw foods because they are too heavy. I have transitioned to a mostly mono-style of eating. The nuts are too heavy and the dates are both too heavy and too sweet! Give it some time. It probalby took me about a month and a half to get this point. It will happen for you. Don't rush it. It all takes time. :)

I'm glad you posted this. I was just thinking about how I'm on day 6 of being raw (except I haven't been that anal about how my spices were dried, and i've been using up my regular olive oil) and I haven't lost weight. I've been eating a lot, and a lot of nuts, too. I'm hoping my satisfaction from the nuts will eventually taper off and I won't want them so bad. I have a LOT of questions. I'm actually compiling them on a piece of paper til I think I have them all, and i'll start a new thread.
