I don't know why, but I'm really wanting a hamburger right now. This is after I had a green smoothie, a salad & an apple w/almond butter so I should've gotten enough protein. Any way to help eliminate this craving? I currently haven't received my coconut oil yet otherwise I'd try that.

when you have a craving, it is just that, not a NEED, just a want, if you are really hungry, you would eat anything, including food you don't even care for.
I've been a vegetarian for over 11 years, and only when I am eating 100% raw, do I ever think of cooked flesh, this is a wonderful thing, it means I am cleansing that out of my system, so be happy that you are craving hamburger

What's weird though is I rarely ate meat, esp. red prior to being raw. And I wasn't really hungry when the craving started. Just all of a sudden I wanted a hamburger. Didn't even see a commercial or anything.

I agree with RP, you're probably cleansing that out of your system from a while back. One thing that helps me when I experience these "cravings" is to ensure I'm eating enough greens. I have a huge green salad!

I disagree with this! I can not eat something I don't care for. Just can't do it at all, no matter how hungry I am. I have been this way ever since I was a child and my daughter is the same way. I've often joked that I'd likely starve to death if I were surrounded only with food that I hated. I also rarely get food cravings.

when I get this kind of cravings I eat a sprouted tortilla or bread, with lots of avocado and a lot of enchilada sauce! This feels like I am eating junk food lol!!! seriously!
I usually drink a glass of water and let the cravings pass...they can pass in less than a minute if we let them. It may sound funny but I do not get into a FOOD FANTASY--which means i do not go on and on in my head how yummy it would taste....I try to remember the AM after effects.
Its seems you had enough protein?? did you eat good size amounts ???

Should've been enough protein. I always have gotten cravings no matter what. I usually don't see immediate negative results to eating SAD, but since I haven't eaten meat in awhile I assume I would probably get sick.
Juliebove, a hamburger is actually something I like. I don't eat them anymore, but prior to being raw I would occasionally have one (farm raised). When I crave things it's usually stuff I use to like. Like pasta is something I ate daily for yrs & I still would love to eat pasta. But I'm raw because I have health issues & don't plan on cheating, at least not to the extreme of a burger & pasta. I just need more simple recipes I can make so I don't get bored. I really enjoy eating healthy. Just going to ignore the cravings.

Do you have a dehydrator? There are plenty of recipes for burger-like patties you can make.

sure fire cure to that craving is to read the book "Dying for a Hamburger", and/or the book "Deadly Feasts (subtitled something like Tracking the Secrets of a terrifying new Plague) which is by a pulitzer prize winning writer I forget his name.
Or look at the work of two nobel laureates Carlton Gajdusek and more recently Stanley Prusiner. (you can google prion diseases also) Industrial ground beef is something to avoid according to many of the leading scientists in this field.
Also commercial beef is the #2 most carcinogenic food according to the EPA.

You may not be craving protein, but the cooked fat. That is what gives burgers the kick. So maybe just making a wrap of romaine, tomato, avocado will do the trick.
I think sometimes craving come from missed experiences more than the food itself.
