*GULP* I have prepared a huge lunch box for us to eat there, fresh and dried fruits, salad in containers with dressing on the side, granolas, flax crackers, etc. I think I'll be ok, what I worry about is the other kids eating all that cooked food in front of my daughter  wish me luck!
Will get back to you tomorrow night!

talk to your daughter, and let her know that she is special, and that what the other kids eat will make them sick eventually.
When I was young, my mom had me on a diet, and I always felt special to eat special food that no one else had.

Have fun! I love the zoo, especially the gators and the monkeys
I hear you sister!!!!!
so far we haven't gone on a long trip with homeschoolers, so far so good. I always feed my kids at home and then I take fruits to snack. I'm amazed the kind of junk people bring for their kids. I just remind my kids "NO" we don't eat junk food and they know. I find some moms are good about it. They will not say anything and they won't offer anything for my kids unless they ask me, so they know me by now. I like that!!!!
good luck!!!

Ah, I know how that goes. Just talk to your kids. They will be so excited about the animals that the food won't be a big deal to them...hopefully. Food is the last thing on my kids' minds when there is something fun going on.
Hope all goes well for you tomorrow. And have a great time!

I am anti-zoo myself.
But if your children are vegan raw foodies and truly know why they are vegan it helps a bit if the others are chowing down on cooked dead animal. I have one child who is vegan and the other vegetarian, they don't ever have any problmes turning down non-veg food. Now raw on the other hand we're still working on incorporating even more of in their diet.
Let us know how the picnic turns out, sounds like you are going to have some really yummy food! :)

OMG!!! just got the goosebumps RP! We fed Girafes and she was eating bananas and carrots! lol!!! I told her, you see Serena... that's why the Girafe is so big, she eats her bananas and carrots! :D :D
The first thing that worried me, as soon as we got there, the kids got ice cream and she asked for some! aurgh!!! I went quickly and took out from my cooler some dried bananas and she didn't even fuss and ate them all. I was able to distract her and take her to the mary go round, piece of cake!
You are all so sweet! thanks so much for replying! I am so happy to announce that Serena ate something different today that she would not try here at home! lol I made her a sandwich of spinach spread with avocado. It was at the end of the day, she was SO HUNGRY that she ate the whole thing without complaining! lmao! I am so happy! When we saw everyone going to eat pizzas, we stayed were we were sitting in and I pulled out our food! Geez, it was SO yummy and so easy for SErena since the other kids weren't eating in front of us! phewwwwwwwwww! We were eating the whole day, snacking on some fruits and crackers. ahhh what a great day!
Mina, I think these homeschoolers know now that we are vegan although I don't think they know we are raw, but I did tell them that we only do organic. They saw me pulling out all these fruits and strange crackers looking and them eating them up lol who knows, maybe we are setting a good example!
Chailife you are right about fun more important than food, Serena wasn't really into the pizza (THANK GOD), but did want ice cream in the beginning because I have to admit, it was DARN HOT! She was so happy with her dried bananas and cold water :)
seasiren, I know what you mean about been anti zoo, I myself am too. This is the only place I would go, including the safari at the Animal Kingdom. This zoo we attended was an open zoo, kinda hard to explain well not really lol, it's a safari! they have created a natural habitat for people to go through it with their own cars, it was magical!!! An ostrich came to say hi and pretended it was eating the car so funny!!!! Then zebras blocking our way and we had to wait for them to finally decide to move out of the way so funny! Anyways, this has no cages, it's a cageless zoo! Check this out: http://lioncountrysafari.com/ I wish everyone could come and check this beautiful zoo, such an amazing experience!
