You probably don't want to hear this...but I need to say it in case it may help someone else.
I have been completely raw for maybe a month now, maybe a bit more (didn't count the days, oops!) Anyway, I ate my house entirely out of raw food and no one would go to the store so I had to cook up some split peas. While they were cooking I already started getting anxiety for some stupid unknown reason! That really gets me angry with myself. But I let it go and ate the split peas when they were finished cooking. They actually didn't even taste good at all. And then maybe a half hour after I started getting horribly bloated and uncomfortable and now I have tons of horrible smelling gas and pain. Ugh. I also feel tired and sick, like I just want to go to bed. Like I felt before I went raw. I remember now, this is how I ALWAYS felt before going raw. I can't stand it. I seriously feel like I am dizzy and going to vomit. This is horrible, and all I had were split peas!

Lunar*Fey, that's a good description of what cooked food does to the body. It is a shame people get so used to feeling that way that they never think to blame the food. Hope you get some more real (raw) food soon.

Can you get shipments of produce to your door? I get a box of produce each week. The farm I used to get it from would deliver to my door although I never used this option. I had it delivered to the health food store around the corner from me and this is where my current farm delivers. It doesn't cost any extra for the delivery and it sure does save me money! Everything is organic and it's always fresh. Another reason I like it is that it forces us to eat or at least try things I wouldn't normally buy. If I go to the store I have a tendency to buy only those things I know that I like. Now I do still have to go to the store for additional things because some things don't keep very long and the assortment they have varies from week to week. I always need onions, celery, carrots, tomatoes, a cucumber and peppers. And some fruit for my daughter. But the rest of what I get can vary.

Another option. Can you grow anything yourself? Even if you don't have enough room for a big garden, you can grow things in pots. Lettuce and radishes are easy to grow from seed. So are chives and green onions. And they don't take up a lot of room. I find that tomatoes do best for me if I can get a plant and herbs are easier to start from a plant too.

If nobody else will go to the store, is it possible for you to go? Is there one within walking distance? How is the shopping done in your house? I tend to go several times a week. Seems we are always out of something. The rule I have is that I try to replenish things before we run out. And if someone notices that we are out or nearly out, they need to either write that item on the list or tell me to. The same goes for anything special they might want that I don't ordinarily have around or something in large quanties, like when my daughter took fruit to school for the whole class.

Yes you were in a catch 22, you need to eat, and raw or cooked you do need to eat ! Soory about the gas. Yes your body is simply not used to the change. Maybe take enzymes with any beans, peas things like that if you have them available !

Doe,
thank you, I hope I get some real food soon as well!

Juliebove,
Thanks for the ideas! Where could I find out if I could get such shipments and do you have any idea of the approximate cost? That would be awesome! If I can get some seeds I probably can grow some things myself, although it is hard because we are trying to move.

Rawfigure,
catch 22 is no fun at all, I seem to find myself there a lot. This is how my body got after eating even before I went raw, that's what made it so so hard for me to gain weight. I don't have any enzymes available but thank you for the suggestion.

I don't know where in Connecticut you live, but I found this listing of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms: http://www.ctnofa.org/programs/csa.php

How far is the nearest grocery store? If it's not too far, you could walk/bicycle there every couple of days.

Try doing a search of farms in your area and see if they ship weekly. I know Diamond Organics in CA does ship but the cost to ship to the east coast is a lot. Melissa's also ships but is expensive. If you can get something assorted on a weekly basis, it would be a lot cheaper.

This link might help. You'll have to scroll down and look through the various farms since I don't know what exact area you live in. Perhaps you'll find a place that will deliver.

Live and learn :)

Though I would say that I think your reaction sounds more like it was to your emotional anxiety about consuming the cooked peas than it was the toxicity of the cooked food. Hopefully now you might have some solutions so that never happens again. If it does though, I hope you can eat the cooked food with love and gratitude.

lunar*fey, get back to raw as quickly as you can.

Please talk to you mom and let her know how you feel when you eat cooked food, she may not understand about the raw and the cooked, but let her know that you WANT to eat the raw food, and the cooked makes you feel like you are back in your disorder.
