Mangos are my favorite fruit next to bananas. Almost every time I buy a ripe mango, it's rotten inside, mostly from being poked and prodded by all the other potential buyers.

So, I've been buying them while they're still really firm and not bruised. But I get very impatient waiting for them to ripen, they take too long and I want to eat them now! :p

Any ideas on how to ripen fruit faster, particularily mangos?

Set them in the sun in a paper bag for a while. That usually works for me.

I'm not positive if this will work... but it can't hurt to try.

Someone on the board mentioned before that apples let off a type of gas, and that makes other fruits around it ripen faster.

I personally keep my apples in their own bowl because of this.

So try placing some apples and mango's together.

I haven't had much luck with the "regular" mangoes being good lately. The little yellow (manilla or ataulfo) mangoes have been awesome though!! See if you can find some of those.
