thought this might be of encouragement to some of you mommies out there thinking about taking your kids more into raw. here are my kids stats today from their annual wellness exam. my son is high raw. all raw most days but does get an occasional cooked (but vegan) thing. not often though. my daughter is all raw. here is how it went. if you want to see my blog you can go to www.ethicalcentral.com/main i have pictures of them there and also note what my daughter eats daily and what my son eats on mondays ( i would do it daily but do not want anybody to turn me in, the whole thing with the andersohn family really scared me. i used to be doing that but no more, so i figure one time a week is better than not at all! ;) )

Eliyahu (just turned 4 years old) -
44" tall (3 foot 8 inches) ! & 48 pounds
from last year he has grown 3" and gained 8 pounds!
he was over the 100% tile for both height and weight! he is just a BIG kid!

Chanah (9 1/2 months old) -
31" tall (2 feet 7 inches) & 19 1/2 pounds
for height she was over the 100% tile for weight she was in teh 75% curve. which is good.

how does this compare to her brother at this age? at 9 1/2 months he was 32" tall (so only 1" bigger than she is) and 27 pounds! so he was 7 1/2 pounds heavier!! i am really ok with that though. G-d willing, she will not have all the weight struggles that i have had and will just be naturally blessed with being thin. Although as you can see from her pics she is still roly poly. eliyahu is a big boy but he is FAR from fat! my mom thinks he is too skinny but i think he is just right. he is muscular and maybe a little thin but he is FAR from skinny!! so anyhoo - that is how it all played out today. :) he looked them over thoroughly and said they seemed healthy.

Congrats Ariella! You are doing great by those kids!

Have you received any of my messages? I was so sad that bootcamp went down and I was not able to even finish out my month with you guys. I hope things are going well there now.

Best Regards,
Emily

Hi Ariella,
I don't see where to contact you on your blog? It says I need to register. At any rate, I left a few messages for you here on threads you had posted. I guess you never saw them. I also asked both Carlene and Ursula to say good-bye, express my gratitudes and best wishes to everyone and pass along the info of where I can be found (ie, here). Perhaps in the hub-bub of the site problems, they forgot?

Anyway, my blog is here now if you want to visit me!

Height is so genetic and weight is obviously what we eat but also genetic. My daughter is 3 next week and she is at the 20% for her height and weight. People often comment on how healthy she eats but unless I fed her crap I think she will always be on the small side - better that then overweight I say and she still has the pot belly toddlers have.

Someone asked her the other day what her favourite foods where and she said broccoli (steamed) and fruit. She then said chocolate but did clarify that was raw chocolate - how cute!

Ariella, this is very encouraging as I change my kids (ages 5 and 10) over to raw foods. We are doing it gradually.

Loves looking at the pics. Purim is so fun! My son dressed as Haman but got a little upset when the "boo-ing" started when reading from the megillah. So we took off his hat and told him that he was now Mordechai. ;) I'll have to try the raw hamantashen this year.

Squidly,

i agree the height and weight are also partly genetic, but also partly what we are feeding our children. my post was only meant to encourage those that are trying to transition their children into more raw! there is so little out there about raw and kids. i know i like to read about other peoples kids and what they are eating and how big they are. it just keeps me encouraged. especially when we are doing something SO against society norm. also i agree it is better to be thin than have a pot belly and be eating junk.

i am sure you are doing great with yoru daughter!
