So I'm very much new here....I began the May 30 day challenge 8 days ago. I did so good on days 1 - 7, eating I would say, 95% raw. Then yesterday on day 7 I totally blew it and ate 1/2 a coffee cake. No, not 1/2 a peice! One half of a big ring. Well, last night I felt terrible and couldn't sleep, I sweated all night. This morning I have a headace, diarhea, and feel, well, hung-over. It's terrible. So I've decided not to feel guilty, to just move on and consider that a lesson learned. And I also feel extremely motivated to stick to the plan. If eating raw for just one week changed my body this much, I'm excited to see what the future holds. So I just wanted to announce in a public setting...I am on board and hope to be for a long time.

Karen :) :)

Hey yogamama, don't feel bad cause we've ALL been there. And good on you for getting RIGHT BACK into raw instead of making your slip-up a lame excuse to eat SAD for a few days.

I've found that when I slip up, taking digestive enzymes and probiotics for the next couple of days helps the food move through my system much less painlessly and more quickly. Eat lightly too, and drink plenty of water.

Yoga helps. All that twisting and deep breathing helps get the body back into raw mode. At least that has been my experience (I'm a yoga-head too).

Also, here's a current thread on this very subject:

Welcome to the board. Eating raw food is an amazing journey, and you will get so many benefits from it. :)

:D Been there, done that...WE ALL CAN RELATE!!! Bad habits die hard...But you sure have the right attitude...I don't know your age but a lifetime of SAD takes awhile to "redirect" ;) and just think, some people have that coffee cake after a meal of pizza and wings and start all over again the next day. The fact that your body reacted negatively is actually a good sign! I prefer to do an apple detox when I need a jump start. I like juicing BUT HAVE TO EAT! I'm sorry, I've tried to do a 1-3 day juice fast and can't do it! Maybe it's because I have such a big family and temptation is all around me or because I'm so active. But I don't feel guilty about it anymore...3 days of all the apples I want cleans out the "garbage" just as well in my opinion!! Good luck and welcome aboard!

Thanks everyone for your compassion. It feels good to be held by a community!

Hey Swing...you are so perceptive...last night I ordered some enzymes and probiotics...I am feeling that my body really needs them right now.

My binge last night also made me realize how much I really want to heal myself. I see my sugar addiction and I don't want it any more. I want to set it down and mean it. My body is asking for health. I don't want to fight anymore...I just want to be. Does this make sense?

((((hugs)))) to all.....let's make today a great day!

also realize that going 100% raw is about a gazillion times easier that only 95% raw, because if you keep any cooked food in your diet, you will continue to have cravings.

Good for you to get right back on raw. You are a great inspiration.

Yogamama, that's great that you are being so positive. I firmly believe that we all have our own timetable for how long it is going to take to get raw and it all starts with really wanting to do it, not just feeling like you have to. It took me quite a few binges to really decide that I was done with cooked for good. For some reason we usually need to see and feel the change in ourselves and to do that we test the waters and learn from it all first. I envy how well you're doing right off the bat and if you slip again, no big deal, raw will always be there, waiting for you and no good person will judge you.
