I have a dumb question...

I'm trying to make a chocolate mousse (trial run for a recipe) and used the last of my maple syrup.

Can I substitute honey?

Thanks!

You can substitute soaked dates and agave nectar for the maple syrup. Just soak some dates overnight, drain keeping soak water and process in food processor, adding a Tbsp. of soak water at a time until you make a paste. Add 1/2 cups plus 2 Tbs. agave nectar and blend. You may need to add a bit more agave nectar according to taste as this is not as sweet as the maple syrup.

Hi Mickie,

I think the honey would be fine too. It may be a bit sweeter than the maple syrup, so go slow.

Yes, I would add just alittle of honey, and taste as you go!

I don't use maple syrup because it isn't raw, nor honey, because it isn't vegan, however agave' is raw and vegan so I would use that.

I usually use dates as my sweetener of choice.
