You are going to love it, and there are many many recipes that don't need a dehydrator.

I have been without a dehydrator for almost 3 years until recently my grandmother gave me hers and I am enjoying it greatly

Book and DVD's arived yesterday.
I was so excited that I had to prep my room, shower and wait til the littles ones were sleep before I opened my package.
Then I fell asleep while reading :D
I woke a 4:30am thinking about what changes to make right away.
The weird thing is that I was negotiating flavor and comfort vs. health and vitality. DUH!!!
Off to farmers market I go this afternoon.
I'll strive for high raw and vegan (goodbye butter, cheese and boiled eggs)
No more pseudo/pesco vegetarian excuses ( goodbye shrimp)
Funny thing is that I've been trying to loose weight, supplementing with soy protein bars and Silk ( for fruit smoothies). The bars do not agree with me, milk solids and all, though I desire the benefits of soy. Silk is okbut I'd been using very vanilla, wrong sugar source I'm sure.
I really need the glycemic and fiber benefits of raw.
Here we go!!!!

OK so I read part of the book last night. Didn't get o the recipeies yet but skimed over a few of the what to buy list.
With a household of seven I'll have to be creative. either they'll eat my stuff and theirs or I'll just convert everyone over.
Anyway I'll give a run down of the intake I had based upon what was available.
Hubby wants to go shop with me tonight so I'm waiting...
Juice for breakfast, bottled with purees and one concentrated item, plus Essential Oils, supposedly no preservatives... last time for this one, just had to finish off what was left stuff cost @ $12/ bottle
Real and Fresh Juiced Carrots and Oranges $3 new neighborhood bodega (sp)store that juices oranges and carrots only and serves them mixed on request.
Cashews (roasted duh?!?!?!) and raisins.
Two side salads from McDonalds with 1 packet of Paul Newmans Ranch dressing
2.5 Avacados, dried chives, black pepper, garlic powder and a few Organic corn tortilla chips.
I'm famished right now but trying to hold out till I an get to the store.
May go downstairs an eat some raw cabbage, that I know I already like :p
Not bad considering I usually consume 2-6 oz of cheese and 2 protein bars plus a french fry daily. But yes I know, not 100% Raw either...
So that was my first pre shopping attempt... I use the journaling section to record more and take before pics tommorow AM, when I'm at my frumpy worst.
The inner DIVA is on her way ..................

Ok this is going to take a little more planning than I thought. Not dififcult but you definately need to make deliberate adjustments.
Enjoyed a smoothie for breakfast and within 2 hours was devouring a triscuit, I gotta get a dehydrator or try making flax crackers on my oven stone.
I think someone posted that you can dehydrate in a warm oven.
My question is if you soak nuts and grains so they will sprout and become alive, then doesn't lonterm dring at 100 degrees make them "dead" in non- enzymatic ( for lack of a better word) again?
Lunch was going well with a huge salad, chives and tomatoes, I was out of avacados so I then had a salad dressing dilemma again. Olive oil available but er huh ....
Anyway I've gotta ge a plan and definately must get some of that raw fudge Alissa Mentioned in the beginning of the book.
