Will drinking detox tea and taking enemas help the problem?
In my stomach area and my sides look puffy and it looks like I'm putting on weight in this area. This has happened to me three times since going raw.
Can anyone relate to this, if so i need advice.
Thanks

:) I went there and read them, yes they did help.
I will try a green smoothie and after the laxative tea i drank last night i feel sooooo much better. Now i just have to get my stomach to go down, it doesn't ache it's just big, which doesn't make me look good in sweaters.
My husband said to me last week and yesterday," you shouldn't wear your clothes so tight", you can imagine how that made me feel.
Thanks for the suggestions.

This has happened to me also. Even the feeling full thing and not eating alot of foods. I really think I was stopped up also. I went and got a couple of colonics, and my stomach is alot less bloated. I had alot of gas also. It really helped me feel better. I think my issues could be due to a health issue, but not sure yet, if I find out it was due to a health issue, I will let you know.

I hope you start feeling better.

I noticed that I would have probs with oranges as well.

There is a thread going here on nettles which would lead me to believe that some nettle tea may help.

:p You know a few years ago i had a colonic and the lady that gave it said that o had a bad case of constipation. After that i started taking enemas and drinking laxative teas but that was when i was eating more cooked food.
I feel a lot better today and will continue taking laxative teas, it may be that my problem with constipation hasn't gone away totally.
Do any of you know of a juice that will help with this problem?
Thanks

I would definitely suggest food enzymes for you too. ;) When I went to see our local Iridologist, he suggested them for me and my tummy was really bloated. The first week on them I lost 3 and a half inches in my waist and 6 pounds. It was amazing. He said I wasn't getting the nutrients out of my food and that I was starving. Therefore, my tummy was bloating. ;)
I bet if you could keep everything in your colon moving smoothly and you started on enzymes...you would see a huge improvement! Let us know what works! :)

I will try those, my husband's company is laid off for a week because Ford is making some changes but when we catch up i will purchase some.
Thank you so much, i am so excited. My stomach is looking like i have a beer belly so to speak. :D

I totally understand about waiting for finances. (We all have to do that at times. ;) ) You know what else I find helps? Blending myself smoothies. It seems to add in my digestion...to have it already blended smooth. ;) Do you ever drink smoothies? Can you feel a difference after you eat them...compared with solids?
I have one of the worst digestive systems that our iridologist has seen. So, when I find something that seems to go down easy...with very little tummy rumble...LOL...I stick with it. :p I really hope the suggestions we have all given help you. Let us know after a while if you see some improvement.

Also will digestive aids made with pineapple help?
Thanks everyone.

I was just reading that 1-2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil a day will help soften up your stool and help you have a BM.

I have been taking the Primal Defense with the Soil Organisms and the Q Enzymes from Garden of Life. I have had great results using them. Last week when I was not feeling so well I had been neglecting them, I statred back up, even overdosing and I am now a week later back to the normal me.

I hear spinach is good to help things move along.

I personally don't do laxatives or enemas, they just don't seem natural to me.

I'd rather eat some fruit or drink some water.

I always say, if you are constipated, stop eating what made you that way, and start eating alot of food with fiber, like apples, with lots of water, and oranges and citrus fruit, and greens, and anything with lots of liquid.

Nothing dehydrated.

I believe it is spinach's high alkaline mineral profile which is largely responsible for promoting good peristalsis.

I find sesame seeds are absolutely fantastic for constipation, as is sweetcorn (although eating this in a raw form may present digestive difficulties unless it is ground to a powder. Bernard Jensen, whom I respect enormously, was an advocate of cornmeal for improving digestive transit and magnesium uptake in general). More on this in a thread from a few weeks back:

rawfigure, why do you think you're having these digestive issues? Why weren't you feeling well? If it's not food-related, then you don't have to answer, I don't mean to be nosey, lol! I just want to know if there is any specific food-related issue to your difficulties.
As well, what did the products you mention do to aid in getting you back to normal?
What are your results?

Thanks.

i was raw for 8 months one time and i didn't lose a pound. i think i take it seriously when told that you can literally eat anything raw and not gain weight. i have been eating tons of veggies but also nuts, ice creams, desserts, grain burgers etc. unfortunately, i think i have to go back to basics. however, if i had eaten the qty i've been eating in cooked food, i'd be an elephant.

About a month ago i pigged out on some chocolate health bars that i love, after that it seemed that i bloated up.
I have since stopped eating them, i was in the midst of a chocolate attack and couldn't help myself at the time, since then i've gotten better with the help of a carob recipe posted.
I'm taking some papaya pills and drinking pinepple juice and each morning before i eat anything i exercise and drink water, i feel so much better starting today.

I am new to this and on Day 8 of the 30 day challenge. My weight loss is slow (just 2 pounds this week) so I'm wondering if you can pin point why you didn't lose weight - were you eating too much, weird combinations, not 100% raw? Just trying to learn from your experience...thanks.

I've noticed that when i eat food like broccoli, whole carrots--tough veggies they seem to block me up.
I started drinking laxative tea and took an enema this morning to get and keep things moving.
I'm around 90% raw and sometimes have had problems with chocolate heath food candy bars to the tune of eating 2-4 at a time, wrong, wrong, wrong, but i don't do that anymore.
I'm getting better and starting to drink more water, the friends on this forum have helped me out so much, i'm trying their tips and things are moving and i'm feeling much, much better.
Also i exercise first thing in the morning and this will help my stomach go down also.

Ann :)

Have you been checked for hypothyroidism?

From what someone said on another post, if you have hypothyroidism goitergen foods can cause thyroid probs. Hypothyroidism causes hypothryodism.

This post has some info on goitergen foods:

My father and brother work for Ford! They work at the plant. Does your hubby work at the plant?

No my husband works for a supplier for Ford, he works for Tower Automotive in Chicago.
Whenever Ford has a new model coming out they have a layoff and this is the second one in a month, very bad timing for everyone.
We be glad when this is over.
Where are you located, we are in Hammond, IN close to the Illinois border line. :)

My brother had to move to Indiana for a year because he got laid off from the Ford plant here in Kansas City. He lived in Griffith. He said it wasn't the safest area. He moved back home though. He says he misses Chicago though.

My dad loves working there. He says it is hard work, but is happy with it. Sorry about the layoff trouble. My brother and father get laid off, but it is a union job, so they get compensated.

:p Speaking of union my husband is financial secretary/treasuer for his union. We don't live too far from Griffith, i thought it was a nice area to live in.
We really like Hammond it's nice here.
My husband goes back to work next week and we are so glad, layoffs are difficult to take, bills don't wait and gas is so high now.
Hope your family is doing okay, everyone is in the same boat but things will be looking up for us all soon.
Take car.

for breakfast, i eat a green juice with apple or a smoothie and fruit

mid am i snack on nut granola. lunch is usually a salad with avocado, corn, dressing etc

i eat raw ice cream or a dessert once a day

raw crackers and pate as a snack or manna bread with peanut butter

a similar salad as lunch for dinner

I ACTUALLY THINK I'M GAINING WEIGHT WHICH IS HORRENDOUS

Your above account reveals hardly any greens consumption. If you're gaining weight I suggest you up your greens consumption dramatically, severely restrict your avocado intake (and avoid oils in your dressings), and obtain a good proportion of your calories from fresh fruits. It is not true to believe that one can eat as one pleases, just so long as it's raw. Be very wary of regularly including foods of a high fat proportion in your diet - we can actually derive a surprising quantity of EFAs from fruits and vegetables, needing to supplement these only very sparingly with high-fat foods (seeds, nuts, avocados etc.). That is one potential danger of seeking to emulate non-raw foods with raw substitutes, for example. One must carefully ensure that healthy proportions of foods are consumed or a raw diet can be almost as unhealthy and weight-inducing as a conventional non-raw diet :)

what about just regular ground flax seeds? I've been putting 2 T. whole flax seeds in my smoothies and that grinds them up & i drink them like that. is that just as good as doing the oil?
