I am so mad at myself. I've been raw for almost 8 months. In that time period I have at the worst been very high raw and the best 100% raw.

Well, I have been 100% again for a week today until today

I was having a hard time a few days ago because I was having digestive problems again. Also my nursing baby wasn't do well due to my eating certain foods (mainly collard greens).

Anyways, I got some advice from another raw expert to eat just bananas for a few days th help clean our systems out.

Yesterday was okay but I made it until dinner time today and felt like I was going to be ill if I had to eat another banana. I was then already past the point of no return.

Instead of finding something raw to eat that would satisfy me I binged badly. I haven't binged on things like tonight in the last 8 months. Usually when I have eaten non raw foods it was healthier options. Not tonight....

We had some vegan cheese sauce made from potatoes, carrots and tofu in the fridge. So I had haystacks (kind of like nachos) with baked corn chips (I cannot eat corn-they give me migraines-stupid move I know), lettuce and tomato and salsa.

I ate my full of those and then decided that I really wanted some sprouted buckwheat porridge. So I made a full portion of that and ate it.

Then I was making food for my family and saw some Koala Crisp cereal in the pantry. I have never been a huge cereal fan but this is one that I had not long before going raw. Yep, you guessed it, I had a huge bowl of those with soymilk. I am so going to pay for this. I already feel terrible physically and mentally. I can't believe that I did it.

I have taken charcoal twice already. Just for good measure. ;)

Well hopefully I will have learned my lesson. I know one thing I have learned is that deprivation is NOT good. I will never try to eat only one food for even a day again unless that is what MY body is craving.

So, could anyone give me a good kick in the rear like I deserve?????

Why oh why did I do this? Argh

If that is all that happened then you are doing very good. That is no big deal. I laughed at the Koala Crisp. Cute.

Why do you eat charcoal? I've never heard of that.

k :)

Aside from the guilt and desire to be kicked.. How do you feel? Do you like how the food feels in your stomach? Is it digesting well? Do you feel energetic and ready to go do exciting stuff, or do you perhaps want to lay down and sleep, or moan?
Because the main reason you are trying to eat well is to feel well... and if your body truely prefers cooked food, then you are already at your goal... but if you are busy yellgn at yourself, instead of taking in this amazing experience of what cooked actually does for you.. well, stop that right now. Try sitting and writing how it all feels for you right htis moment.. And then do it again in a few hours.. NO judgement, no blame.. just notice.
I found that was the fastest way for me to make any changes...
Try it, no yelliing, no guilt, no kicking.. just more and more freedom! And in my experience more and more raw. grin

You might want to give yourself a huge pat on the back for all the changes you have made so far. You are doing amazing ly well to be high raw and 100% for 8 months!! Many, many rawbies have not done that well!! I applaud you!!

No one is perfect. Just remember that. Take all those negative feelings and toss them out the window. Focus on the positive. Life is GOOD!

Well, if we had to kick someone every time they fell down, there would be a lot of sore butts on this board!

8 months of rawsome goodness is an amazing accomplishment! That's around 240 days! Don't beat yourself up over one day. There are all kinds of bumps and puddles in the road but those shouldn't take away from the journey!

Just gotta dust yourself off and keep on goin'!

Grasshopper this is why the pencil has two ends one with a point the other w/ an eraser.

I'm wondering if there is something ( nutrition) that you're missing & your body is sending you SAD cravings vs what you need. Like some people think they're hungry when they're thirsty. Or wanting spinach when in need of iron, Some PMS crave chocolate ( they are trying to relate that to copper)

W/ all the soy maybe it's a protein ? Try a fresh pineapple & papaya & see if that helps your tummy! \0/ hugs to ya

nursing babies don't usually react well to cruciferous veggies, which collard greens are, just to let you know.

you may wish to try using lettuce as a wrap, although not as sturday or a nori sheet (I hate that fishy taste, but many people love them, my hubby is one of them.)

Also, mono eating isn't good to do with sweet fruits, or at least I would have a hard time doing it, and I mono eat alot.

use a juicy fruit, like oranges or pineapple mmmmmmmmmm--oops sorry got off in my pineapple day dream for a minute. LOL

so I wouldn't worry, I've fallen off that raw wagon so many times, thank Goddess that I can come here and tell people and they don't judge me, or I wouldn't be here.

I expect that there are about ALL of our members who have strayed from raw once or maybe twice or about a gazillion times like me.

So, know that you are in good company, and that we all have been where you are, and we are still working on it, that is why we are here, most of us anyway.

I know that the BEST way for ME to STAY raw, is to come help those who are having challenges, it helps me to think about how I feel when I am raw compaired to how I feel when I eat cooked. YIKES!!! what a difference.

so, know that we are here for you, because tomorrow you may NEED to be here for us. LOL

And just jump back on that raw wagon, it's waitin' for you, just up around the bend, and some of us are on it with our hands out to help you back up.

Sending big (((((HUGS)))))) and no judgements, and lots of raw wishes your way.

YOU CAN DO THIS, LOOK HOW FAR YOU'VE COME ALREADY!!

YOU RAWK!!!!

Awwww, thanks everyone! :o Here I was expecting a kick and got hugs instead!!

Funny thing is that this time I ate non healthy type foods compared to when I have eaten cooked before. This time I felt great and didn't have any ill feelings. How weird is that? Now when I have eaten steamed veggies or a baked potato I get lots of yucky feelings. This time I actually felt great. I was warm (I have been freezing to death all night long), I slept better than I have been and I have much more energy than I have had all last week. Strange.

Thankfully, I CHOSE to eat all raw today instead of saying well I might as well try cooked again. (as if I don't already know how I do with it :p )

RP- what do you mono eat if it isn't sweet fruits? Besides pineapple I mean. ;) Oh the heartburn was terrible.

I am going to do what you said and make my wraps with lettuce. Not the same but it will still taste good.

Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and support.

On to the journey.........

Sam,

I guess mine wasn't too bad then huh? Just kidding. So did you eat that all in one meal?

One thing I noticed is that I just kind of tuned out and ate and ate and ate.

Then times I have chosen ahead of time to eat a healthy cooked food I didn't do that but this time it was all spur of the moment.

Yikes!

So how did you feel after all that? :p

Thanks for sharing that with me.

Oh I forgot to tell what charcoal is. You can buy charcoal capsules at a health food store. I buy mine in bulk. I put a T. in a glass jar of water in the fridge and drink that when I have gas :o , bloating, stomach pains or if I have eaten something that will not make me feel good.

It pulls all the toxins and junk out of your body. I don't really know how to describe it really. I know they use it in the hospitals for when people overdose. It really helps me. I know it isn't raw but it takes away my pains and discomfort quickly rather than waiting days.

Faith4U, I noticed you're in Oregon too! I am also nursing a baby. I think that when we are nursing babies it is more difficult because we really need more calories and crave so many different things. Yes, I contribute this to nursing. Anyway, have a better day today and move on. Look forward, not backward.

Don't feel bad. Ten years ago, I decided to go 100% raw. That lasted two days. I went back and forth for 10 years like that until last year I did it. I went 100% and stayed that way, with NO cheating. Nothwithstanding, it took ME ten years!!! Does that make you feel better?

Yes, you made me feel better. :D

So what was the longest time period you stayed raw during those 10 years?

Wow that is perseverence. You must have had a strong push/desire to go raw to keep at it for so long. Good for you.

Good luck!

Well, the longest I stayed raw thru those 10 years was when I was pregnant with my second child. So probably about 8 Months. After he was born, back I went to about 70 %.

Glad I helped you.
