I made Alissa's heavy pesto and stuffed vine ripe tomatoes with the pesto and dehydrated them for about 12hrs. It was one of the best things i have tried since being raw, absolutely amazing. You all have to try it.
Made smasty's carrot cookies and they are drying can't wait! Thanks for all of the recipes everyone, it really helps to have input from those that are going through the same things.

hhmmmmmmm...that sounds good :) too bad my dehydrator doesn't heat...i really don't think i could dehydrate veggies in it...seed crackers are fine, but till i get it fixed, i guess, i'll just eat it not dehydrated :) I'm sure it will be good

Sounds yummy! The "heavy" pesto... is that Gus's Pesto on pg 309?

Also, has anyone made the pesto without the walnuts? They don't sit so well with me all the time. How about substituting pecans, cashews or using just pine nuts? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Try it and see. I don't know offhand what nut is "supposed" to be in the burgers but I remember from the video that she mentioned she was out when she made the "ahead of time" ones for the guests in it and substituted pecans. She said it turned out so well that now pecans are "the nut" to use in the burgers lol. So yeah, try a different one and see if you like it.

Hi,

I make the pesto often, and the pecans work well.

If the walnuts don't sit well with you, you can soak them, I usually dont' as it takes away the flavor of the walnuts, which is quite bitter, which is what you are looking for in this recipe, but you might try that.

Also, Pinenuts might work, as that is what regular pesto is made of, plus cheese, etc, but pinenuts by themselves should be okay.

Also, you might try some grains and nuts mixed, just to experiment as that might work better for you.

SedonaSun, you can easily substitute other nuts in the pesto. The softer ones, like pine nuts and cashew nuts would be best.
