I am planning a raw birthday party for a friend (on her request) LOL And I want to wow the guests that will be there that have never had raw cuisine before.

ANY ideas what I should make and take? She is not telling them it is raw until they start to dig in!

I forgot to mention she wants a raw potluck as well. So, maybe that might give more ideas of what to make.

Should I just do a theme or a variety of foods?

Thanks

Pam

I have this link in my favorites:

I been thinking of doing this for my daughter's 4th bday, that's a great idea to not let the guests know about that she has raw catering! hehe!!!

I'm probably going to go the exact opposite of everyone else, but I would suggest for people who have never had raw before to stick to simple dishes. In my experience, people are more willing to taste things that are recognizable and familiar.

I'd try a huge mixed green salad, a spinach-orange and strawberry salad, veggie sticks with dip, Alissa's pesto stuffed mushrooms, a watermelon bowl with fruit salad, or fruit on toothpicks with some kind of dip (maybe a ginger dip) would be familiar enough to everyone (and I have NEVER been at a party or picnic where the fruit salad didn't go first!). You could also do pate-stuffed cherry tomatoes. You might want to try a few gourmet raw dishes for the more adventurous. Maybe a salsa rolled up in large butter lettuce leaves. Alissa's date nute torte, some raw cookies (there's a fantastic caramel coconut cookie on this board)... I'm still thinking. :)

The things I have made that people like are:

pesto stuffed mushies
fudge balls
nut torte (they love that one)
banana and raspberry pie
avocado salad (cut pieces of avo with tomato, cucumber, dill, garlic and braggs or equivalent served in the avo shell)
green salad

Good luck
